There are minimum requirements for admission (or as called for by scholarships). "passing" would be getting at least the minimum.bgmaggot00 wrote:Ummm, its been a few years since I took the test, but, this isn't a Pass/Fail kind of test. As far as I remember, you just get a number from 1 to 36. How exactly do you "pass?"

Last Monday on the 1470 AM talk radio sports show with Mark and Norm when they talked to Dan D. they were asking him about the final four teams. DD began talking about LSU and Glen Davis AKA Big Baby and how he wanted to go out and find him a Big Baby. Well I guess BG now has it's own version of the Big Baby, Otis Polk. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Next years team will have more depth than they have had for years.
The NCAA has a sliding scale for minimum eligibility requirements as does the University for all incoming student athletes. With the NCAA's scale, a passing score on the ACT/SAT must correspond with a matching GPA to receive full-qualifier status. That is the determining factor in assessing a student athlete as "partial qualifier," "non-qualifier," or the "being fully cleared."

Partials sit until Christmas in most cases.
Non Qualifiers sit until the next year a la Lionel Sullivan. Sullivan will actually be a freshman next year though as the staff chose to redshirt him this year and save his eligibility.

The reason why is because of the soft play we have had in the past. During the Pardon/McLeod/Matela/Klassen days my roommate at the time always used to knock me for being such a big fan and saying the team was so good. He always said, and was right, that we would not go anywhere until we got some thugs to play hard and make people pay for going into the lane. We played too soft an come tourney time it would show.
Now thug may be a strong word, that is why I added the caveat, but the basketball played in Detroit is most likely a different style (for better or worse) than rural Indiana. I think the blend of the two is where the real success comes from.
I don't mean thug in terms of Trent Jackson thug, I mean thug in terms of you come into my lane you better think twice.

I explained why. I took it from my roommates description for what he felt the team needed.Flipper wrote:"Thug" is an ugly, poorly chosen word. "Enforcer" would have been slightly better or simply saying tht Polk will give us a "physical dimension we've lacked in the middle" would have been best.
Why bring people's hometowns into it?
