Here's a list of the top 100 JC players. FWIW, another player from the same school is ranked 65th, I think:

How have I passed judgements. I stated....based off the limited information we have.... it seems like this is the case, that s is not a big recruit and I am not excited about his signing. Hew does not fit the PG need we had and does not seem to be the uber great player that I would expect us to recruit over that PG.
So if I understand this correct if you are going to state positive things about incoming recruits then that is ok to make judgements, however if they are negative things we should wait until we see the players play? No one should ever discuss recruiting then, or the draft in pro sports.
Perhaps we should wait until someone retires from a sport before we discuss him so we get the whole picture.
I posed a question and stated what conclusions I came to over the limited data available. I see know problem with that. I certainly did not mean it to be a complete description of his ability. I even stated so by saying...his stats tend to show he does not go to the hole, if he is a dunk champion that would seem unlikely.
I hope he is the best player to ever play at Bg. At this point I am less than excited about that.

Many said Doug Flutie would never have a successful college career because he was too short.
One of the most famous Hail Mary's and a Heisman later, he had a pretty good career in the college ranks.

Interesting, where did Samarco fall on that list?dduncan wrote:Here's a list of the top 100 JC players. FWIW, another player from the same school is ranked 65th, I think:

new bg recruit....
Yeah, I'd have to agree with Germainfitch1 on this one. This signing at the surface does not excite me. Signing this Chris Knight kid would have. But we'll see eventually if he's good enough game or not. 6'5 and 170? Gosh I thought Steven Wright was a twig. I'd think some serious sessions with Hillman would be in order pronto to his arrival on campus. I'm not liking this trend I'm seeing. We seem to get these 6'5 "wing" players but they rarely have the talent or the skills to slash to basket. Thats what we miss big time as well.
Moten doesnt' seem to have those tendencies and neither does this guy either. Shooting a good % from 3 land is great but I'd like to have a 6'5 , 6'6 guy that can slash and drive the hole and finish strong. We're not getting those players for some reason. Either DD isn't offering schollies to those players or they're not coming here if we do offer.

Re: new bg recruit....
I must, albeit painfully, agree with Falconboy. I know nothing of this new guy, and have barely glanced at his stats so I won't say much about him at this point. However, with the guys we put on the court last year falconboy is absolutely correct. None of our wing guys could consistently put the ball on the floor to get to the basket, and perhaps more importantly, the line. Our guards don't really show that capability either. This team had an absolute laundry list of problems and the ability to penetrate and create was definitley among them.falconboy wrote:Yeah, I'd have to agree with Germainfitch1 on this one. I hope this kid has some of those abilities, or if he doesn't I still hope he can contribute in some way. However, at this point I find it impossible to get excited about any recruit. We could pull in the #1 PG in the country and I'd still want to see him suit up before I said anything about him. With all the touted recruits we've had come in only to sit the bench and not play, never develop, or transfer out, I just find it real difficult to get excited about recruiting anymore.
