Here is the story from the BG website:
Pepelea To Join Staff at Middle Tennessee State
Assistant coach joined the Falcons in 1998
May 4, 2006
Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University men's basketball coach Dan Dakich has announced that Artie Pepelea, who has served as an assistant coach for the Falcons since 1998, will accept a similar position at Middle Tennessee State University.
"I'm really happy for Artie and his family as this job will provide them new opportunities both professionally and financially," said Dakich. "Artie is as good a coach as I have every been around and he and his family are even better people."
"I feel like I am leaving the best coach in the Mid-American Conference," said Pepelea. I have learned so much under him and in four of my eight years here we have won 18 or more games which has only happened here once in a similar time span since 1951."
A national search for his replacement will begin immediately
Personally, I would have done the same thing if I would have been Coach Pepelea
Someone is leaving the program
