Matt will start at the 5. Again SR with a great work ethic. I think toward the end of the season he will come off the bench because of his feet.
Samarco will start at the 3. Enough said.
Marshall will start at the 4 but will be replaced by Larson. I watch some of the summer work outs and Larson will be a good one.
Clements will start at the 2. Clements has really improved his game from last year.

The rest of the team:
Polk, what I have heard, wanted to red shirt this year. DD told him to “go somewhere else” if that’s what he wanted. DD wants to go out with a winning team and having a scholarship red shirt does not figure into his 1 year plan. Polk is big but that is about it for him.
Chris Knight doesn’t make sense to me if DD thinks he will be gone at the end of his contract. However, I watch Knight play and I was impressed. But what about grades?
Sims: no way. He can run and jump but that’s it. Can’t shoot mid range or 3’s and does not see the floor at all.
Guerin: best dribbler and passer on the team. Has gotten a lot bigger. But he’s a walk on. DD will find it hard to play a walk on alot over scholarship players.
Miller: This kid is unreal. I wish he could start in October. He is the one to watch!!
Moten: If it’s possible looks worse than last year. Because of the other players recruited he needs to get his seat at the end of the bench and get comfortable.
Sullivan: will be a great addition to this team. It seems to me that he is out of shape which I know DD will handle.
Larson will be good. Will start sometime in the middle of the season
Radivojevic Needs to look up the word “pass” and get more weight on
Hamblet has got to get stronger.
The nice thing about this team is that if Lefeld and/or Marshall get into foul trouble we have some big guys to come in unlike last year.

The word on Sims is that he's either on or off. Maybe you saw him when he was off? How did his stroke look? Does he have good fundamentals on his shot? Your comment on him not seeing the floor confirms what another poster has said about him not being a pg.

I'd imagine Polk will be relatively useless until he can get his weight down to around 260 or so. However, I'm betting that he can and will loose this weight and gain mobility that he needs to score in the post. How does he look skill-wise? Lefeld came in heavy, worked his tail off to loose weight, and made big improvements as a result. I hoping to see the same from Polk.

FWIW, the guy at hoopfactor.com, who has seen Sims play, is pretty high on him.

I always enjoy trying to piece together the upcoming years lineups to both see where we are this year and where we may need to be looking in recruiting. I think that answer may be PG, without any kind of analysis. I would also not be surprised if we did pretty well this season. We have 4 starters returning, I feel we may have the best player in the MAC and depth where there was nothing last year. Last year I kept saying that I would love to be there to see the competition for who would start at the 4 spot. This was when I thought Sullivan, Holland and Marschall would all be in the mix. I can say the same this year for that fifth starter at the 2 or 3. Miller/Clements/Sims/Hamblet/Moten/Sullivan....there are arguments for all. My view of the top 5 and beyond.

1 Floyd 6-2 185 Sr. The much maligned Floyd will certainly start as a senior in Dakiches offense, as he has the past two years. He is certainly not the ideal PG and he would probably fit better off the bench, but Dakich is a loyal man. Floyd put up 10 pts last year and dished out 3 assists a game, down from 5.2 the year before. He is adequae and provides a steady glue player at the 1 who knows the offense and can get things going. As the more athletic younger players get their handle on things, his time should start being limited.

2 Samarco 6-3 195 Sr. What can be said about Samarco that is not obvious from just a brief glance at his numbers?: 18.9 points a game, 4.1 rebounds, 85% FT 45% 3P 35 minutes a game. He will be the centerpiece of any success this year. And any success this year may leave him in rare company when we talk about Falcon guards (Probably just beyond the recent greats)

3 Clements 6-4 190 So. This position is clearly up for grabs and may just be staying warm for when Nate Miller comes midseason. For now I will put Clements in here because he played the most minutes last year among those vying for the spot. Dakich likes to shuffle lineups so I would not be surprised to see any number of faces here. The fact that so many will by vying for this spot leaves me excited about this years team because it will have something we have lacked for awhile, depth. His numbers are modest at best, but they are the best we have returning for the 5th starter. 13.4 mpg.317 FG .176 3P .250 FT

4 Marschall 6-7 235 So. A pleasant surprise and a savior in the post last year. He should have a great career in BG and Big things have to be predicted after starting 22 games as a freshman, putting up 7 ppg, 4 rpg and leading the team in blocks. He should have a chance to improve on those numbers as more depth in the post means he can fit into a more suitable role for him this year.

5 Lefeld 6-11 260 Sr. Samarco's affect on the team is obvious based on his numbers, No matter what numbers Lefeld puts up his affect will go well beyond his play on the court. Playing as our only big man last year, on bruised feet Lefeld showed the desire and leadership that will make him a great senior leader on this team, even if his minutes are less due to his foot ailments. Last year he put up 7 points and 3 rebounds in 22 minutes. An outside observer may never fully realize his affect on the team.

6 Moten 6-4 175 So. Moten is likely a lock for the first backup at the 1-3 in the early season. He returns after showing flashes in 8 mpg last year. At worst he is depth, but the former University of Virginia recruit could be much more.

7 Radivojevic 6-7 205 So. Had to play some post because of the extreme lack of depth last season. He is listed at 6-7 but that has come into question. Averaged 11 mpg and showed signs of being a dangerous shooter.

8 Sullivan 6-6 215 Fr. Could be the most important addition to this years team. . When recruited I beleive he said rebounds were like food to him, Or some thing of the like. He will immediately add depth after redshirt year (I beleive academically induced?) First player off the bench in the post.

9 Miller 6-4 225 So./Fr. The UNCW Transfer was 3rd team all-ohio a few years back with some gaudy numbers. He can't play until January, but when he steps in he should change the face of the team and may step right into a starters role. Not sure if he will have half of his freshman year left or if he starts out as a Sophomore.

10 Larsen 6-9 Player most likely to see time Right away in this years class. Should slide in right behind Lefeld initially, and with Lefelds feet the way they are he could see more minutes than the senior very early.

11 Sims 6-1 Recruit has been all over the fence in terms of what people on here have said about him. HE is either a play right away stud, or a guy who will need time, he is either a shoe in to play the point or will enevr play there. For this list I put him at the 1 because we lack a true PG.

12 Polk6-9 285 Fr. Absurdly large man who will give us what we needed in the post even if all he does is get up and down the floor. I imagine he will give us more by the time he is done.

13 Hamblet 6-6 185 Jr. Juco recruit seems like he will be at the very least nice depth. What we have done with Jucos recently makes me think Dakich will hit with another glue, utility player here like he has with the last two. His numbers might not be gaudy on his level, but neither were Fitches or Solers and they turned out well.

14 Knight 6-7 210 athlete will have to sit out a year for academic reasons.

15 Brian Guerin 6-0 180 So. Walk on could earn spot on a team without a true PG.

1 Floyd 6-2 185 Sr. -- Sims 6-1 Fr. -Guerin 6-0 180 So.
2 Samarco 6-3 195 Sr. -- Moten 6-4 175 So.-- Hamblet 6-6 185
3 Clements 6-4 190 So. -- Miller 6-4 225 -- Radivojevic 6-7 205 So.
4 Marschall 6-7 235 So. -- Sullivan 6-6 215 Fr.
5 Lefeld 6-11 260 Sr.-- Larsen 6-9 220 Fr. -- Polk 6-9 285

We will liekly have atleast 2 r\spots available for potential recruits next year. One should go to a big man and one to a PG.
