Well, at least it's mostly D1, and many of them are at home. They are mostly schools from the deep south, both in terms of geography and RPI. There is not one single strong team on this OOC schedule. Nobody distinctive whatsoever.Flipper wrote:I don't think there was any rebar in the Sebo center...hence the new construction. Fair enough. I don't necessarily disagree, but I strongly feel the administration would. It's the Journey... wrote:You got it. I see in DD a coach who saw the money and ran. Then realized the grass wasn't as green on that side of the fence and begged to come back. At that point he lost the respect of his players (I have spoked with many on the team at the time and that is exactly what happened) and he has not been able to get it back. I see a program who is losing players for whatever reason faster than watching a cement block sink to the bottom of the Maumee River. We were, and will be better off without this person at the helm.

I think the UWGB tourney includes us, Green Bay, and two DII schools.BleedOrange wrote:Well, at least it's mostly D1, and many of them are at home. We should be able to beat Green Bay. I don't think Favre's body will hold up until then.

This schedule is embarassing. I would rather get blown out by very good, heck even decent Div. I teams than sink to this level. We're playing a bunch of Div. II and III schools. If BG does have a winning season how can anyone actually be excited about the way it happened? Central Arkansas? The only reason I know that is a school is because of Scottie Pippen. Once again this schedule is pathetic.

Relax & Enjoy
I love the schedule. How can you not like having numerous home weekend games, against D1 teams? I admit many of the teams are un-known, but who cares. How many people in the south know anything about most MAC teams? This is much better than previous pre-Mac home schedules.
I think this is a great schedule for an extremely young team (eleven 1st & 2nd year players) to get their act together. Unlike the DD hate crowd, I am going to sit back and enjoy watching the team develop.

Kent's 05-06 Schedule
This schedule got them ready last year for MAC play. I don't see a big difference, except more home games.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I actually don’t mind this schedule and I think this schedule "fits" our team very well. The last few years have been, well, pretty terrible. And last year was, well, pretty pathetic. We have another young team (surprise, surprise) and the last thing we need is a schedule loaded with teams that are likely to result in losses. This team and this program needs to learn and know how to win again. If we can ever build a team again with veteran players and become a force in the MAC (like we were in 1997, 2000 & 2002), then yes, I say load up the non-conference schedule with great teams and let's see what we can do and try to help our case for the untouchable NCAA Tournament bid. But the reality is, we're nowhere near that level right now and a schedule like this could help us – hopefully – get back on track again.
Think about this for just a minute, we have six non-conference home games against D-I schools this year. SIX! While I agree it would be nice to have some bigger named schools coming to Anderson Arena, this sure as hell beats playing multiple non D-I schools or a bunch of games on the road. For years we've been begging for home non-conference D-I games, and when we finally get them, we complain about who the opponents are?! News flash – we aren't exactly world beaters ourselves. And yes, we have fallen on hard times, it happened a few years ago and we've yet to get up. Do you really think most teams out there get excited to see us on their schedule unless they are thinking in terms of wins?
We've been rebuilding for several years now (mainly due to defections) and are doing so again this year. But this could……COULD…..be the start of things to get us on track again to be the type of program we are striving to be and a schedule like this could help facilitate that. So instead of complaining about our schedule, why not enjoy it, because next year we could be back to one or two home D-I OOC games and more non D-I schools again. That would be a reason to complain, not this, IMO.

GO BG!!!
I'm gonna have to agree with BGSU33. I am trying to discount the fact that Dakich is in the last year of his contract. We are young, playing lots of Div IA teams, and playing them at home. Trying to look at the bright side, I really think this is a good schedule to help our team establish themselves in the pre-conference portion.
