Everybody agrees, or at least nearly everybody agrees. The problem is this is his last year on his contract, so don't look for us to fire him during the season. We can just wait it out and let him go for free. Why would we pay him midseason, promote an assistant to interim, then bring in a new coach next year?

Dan is done after this year...he's a total lame duck coach. The Athletic Dept. made the decision to ride with him through this lame duck year, so I fully expect them to follow through with that decision.

Good point. I guess we just have to wait another 2 or 3 years before this team is any good again. We will be lucky to win 4 games in the MAC this season.

I wouldn't go that far. There are some talented players on this team. It is quite conceivable that, if they all stick around with the coaching change, they could grow under the right coach and be good within a year or two. The talent is also mostly pretty young. The only upperclassmen are Hamblet, Samarco, and LeFeld.

If these players have the talent that I think they do, the right coach could build a winning team here in a year or two. Unless of course it's someone that wants to completely clean house and runs off these players like Urban did for football.

Before we look that far ahead, I'm just going to attend the games and look for individual players to grow and show signs of improvement. I know our substitutions will still make no sense, I realize we'll run nothing out of timeouts, and I'm aware that our offensive scheme will be nonexistent. Still, I'll be at the games enjoying them, knowing that next year a new coach will be molding this clay. Hopefully we get a nice vase, instead of a lump like we've gotten recently.
