cowboyjoe wrote:Hey Orangebrown... you may think the "Furman" talk has gotten out of control...but what has gotten out of control is the talk that our schedule isn't any good. Furman and South Alabama are as good as any top 2 MAC schools and both will be in NIT or NCAA. By the way why did Florida play West Carolina in football this year again? Why do people give us crap about playing Florida International or a 1AA school once in awhile when a top 5 team does it? Just curious why no one got on them.
Well, I think if you went to a Florida message board, you might well have seen that people did "get on" them. We don't normally comment too much on that here.

Of course, I wouldn't have expected to have a post about a game Furman won after they played us, either. I would think we would have moved on. I will even agree that (as I stated originally) that Furman is better than people thought. But, I can't see touting only losing to them by four points as an accomplishment.

But your point seems confused. Are you saying that BG playing Furman is like Florida playing West Carolina? Or are you saying West Carolina is as good as everyone thinks Furman is?

Some Toledo City League Player of the Year from Toledo Start went to Furman back in the 70s. Scored over 40 in a game once. Why do I remember this? Don't know. Maybe it was Fordham.

My point is simply this: Why would anyone get on BG playing a team like Dennison or Bluffton when Florida plays West Carolina in football and Duke plays Savannah State in basketball? It's all relative isn't it? We should have a couple of blowouts like those teams do. That's all.
