Blade's list of potential candidates
Just to clarify, in no way, shape, or form was I intending to make a racist comment. I don't care if the new coach is black, white, yellow, green, Jewish, Hindu, lesbian, transgendered, Communist, or even a Steelers fan (have to say that since I have to look out my hotel room at Heinz Field
). I just want the person that gives us the best chance to win games.

Warthog, you did NOT make a racist comment. Not even close. Not even vaguely. It's very hard to see how a rational person could interpret it as racist. Don't even think about worrying about it.Warthog wrote:Just to clarify, in no way, shape, or form was I intending to make a racist comment. Fortunately, that is all I have to offer to this conversation.
Seriously though, the more I consider Oppenheimer the more I like him.
He has proven success recruiting for a mid-major school. An assistant from a Big 10 or Big 12 school recruits with a huge budget and sparkling facilities to sell. Oppenheimer never had that advantage at Kent. Plus, he does have experience at DePaul for those who want some connection to a "name" school. It matches the profile of Curt Miller, who had success at mid-major Colorado State while also having experience at Syracuse, a larger institution.
Hiring him would also weaken Kent considerably, taking away their best recruiter and transplanting someone who knows their program inside and out to a division rival.

I have heard from some alumni that Toledo St. John's Jesuit High School's head coach Ed Heintschel is in consideration for the job as head coach here at Bowling Green. In his years as head coach there his is only 2 wins away from 500.
Believe me or not, but this is what I have heard from past varsity athletes that played for Bowling Green.

That would be an interesting move...he's won at St John's and he's won at Libbey. That's two vastly different schools with very different student populations. You'd have to pair him with at least one experienced assistant who's willing to work under a collegiate novice. A guy like that might be hard to find.
