Play of the night, for me, was listening to BSU's band count down the shot clock to 10 as if it were running out... Miller looked like he looked up at the clock, then backed it back out. As the band patted themselves on the back, he drained a long jumper and smiled the whole way down the floor.
Line of the night, was every time Jakubowski touched the ball, the band chanted "You're not Steve Nash!" At one point, a guy in front of me turned to his friend and said "he's playing like him tonight!" JJ also had a sweet drive and finger roll in the second half.
About the band... they were amusing. Even if their taunts were a little off (see above), they were into the game the whole way, chanting and yelling and whatnot. But they have them sitting in the top corner of the arena. Meanwhile, about a dozen kids are standing in the student section, clapping occasionally. Worthen Arena looks pretty from the outside, but inside feels ridiculously empty. Not only that, but it's laid out horribly. We walked up from the main parking lot, up the stairs to the first gate to greet us, and were told we had to go back out and around to the next gate down to buy tickets. So we head back out and over to the next entrance, up the stairs, and were told we had to go downstairs to buy tickets. At that point, we probably should have just laid low for a minute, then headed into the game, but for once in my life,I did the honorable thing.
tiz.. nice to meet you, too... it wasn't hard to pick out the BG fans in the crowd last night... in hindsight, I wish we would have headed over to where you were sitting. Watching Coach Orr coach, even from across the floor, is a much different experience than what we'd gotten used to.
