But then, I usually think the Coach plays the players that have worked the hardest and will put us in a position to win.]

DD used to get his ass kicked on this board for that!]

Not even close to truth.]

I have to agree with Rollo...Dakich would be taking a beating for these second half meltdowns especially against these second rate teams.

Need to find a way to win these games down the stretch. UGH!!
It just goes to show you that this team just hasn't figured out how to win the close ones. Honestly, that's the only thing seperating them from possibly contending this season in the MAC, because they've played really well in many of their games.

Today's women's game against Hartford was a perfect example of the difference between our men and our women. Hartford was losing by 11 with 7 minutes left, and they cut the deficit to 3 with 1:48 left. Curt Miller and company beared down and finished off their opponent with good defense and clutch FT shooting to win 56-52. In that same situation, I'm sure that the men would have lost, because a. they can't shoot FTs, and b. they don't have the consistent defense to get stops down the stretch.

It's hard to really comment when I didn't see or listen to Saturday's game. We've played so few home games I've only seen the team play a few times (I did catch the OSU game on TV).

From what I have seen, though, this team struggles mightily at times to generate offense. They go through these stretches where it just looks as though we have no clue what we want to accomplish. I think we want to feed the post and work inside-out, but we don't have guards that can actually get our post guys the ball when they're in position.

We also really struggle with turning offensive rebounds into points. It's frustrating to work and get and offensive board only to see our guys not get the easy put back that is often associated with that.

Our defense has been solid in the games I've watched, it's just a matter of finding some consistent offense. Moten, Knight, and Miller have struggled quite a bit at times this year, and that was pretty much our offense last year. We need them to get back to last year's level.

Heart-breaking? More like galling. Unfortunate in any case.

People keep trying to imply that there's a double standard in favor of Orr. This thinking is sloppy. The Dakich beatings started after establishing a track record of losing, player turnover, poor player development, bad play, and a thickheaded inflexibility in approach. The criticisms were based on aspects specific to Dakich.

People will generally give a guy in Orr's position the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. That is fair-minded. If Orr turns out to be as pathological as Dakich, I'm sure he'll be hammered as well. Thing is, while things haven't been perfect, Orr is exceeding expectations overall.

This season, we have 2 loses after blowing big leads. This hasn't been a repeated problem for Orr. It wasn't a repeated problem for Dakich - he had other problems.

The problem I seeing from our men's team right now is the fact that we still dont' really have a true low post offensive presence. We have a bunch of shooters but not enough slashers , we have some post guys with some size but neither have the ability to do a dang thing with their back to the basket. This team is still quite lacking in the talent at the forward and center positions needed to get to the next level.

Calhoun looks like that kind of athlete and player but we have yet to see anything from him. Is he not ever going to be eligible this year? Are we redshirting him?
