Both games are working fine for me

BG is leads 31-23 with about 6 mintues left in 1st half.

I just hope that the 2nd half is just as good. We've had problems in that area this season. Go BG!!

It's a dam good thing this game was played at home, with that bad 2nd half again, had this game been in Buffalo we probably would have lost. This HAS to be addressed sooner or later because otherwise we just won't achieve to our potential.

Still, Buffalo had the 2nd best record and 2nd best RPI in the conference coming into today, so this was a very good win for our men. Good job.

I ran into Freak at the game and he and I both agree - our team has got to learn how to close out games. For just this game, not all of them, I attribute the close finish to foul trouble. Our starters got into foul trouble in a hurry, we don't have a lot of depth, so our starters had to play late with a lot of fouls and play very conservatively.

That's not surprising considering how many fricking fouls the MAC refs call every game. It's especially bad during the women's games, but its noticeable during men's games too. They tend to be very whistle happy. Obviously I don't know if that was the case today or if the two teams were just very physical, but based on the track record I would guess the former.

I once saw Clements, Moten, and Miller come to the rec to play pickup against a group of other students, and the other students were getting upset at the fouls our varsity players were calling. They were calling the game like what they are used to from the MAC refs, which is clearly much more ticky-tack than what you see in pickup games.

There are no such thing as "MAC Refs." College basketball officials aren't assigned to just one conference, but a region. The officals that do our games also do games in the Big Ten, Horizon league, etc.

Our guards have to learn how to be tough when other teams make runs. When Buffalo made their run our offense was totally out of whack. They took bad shots, were not running the offense and they broke down defensively. Most importantly they stop going to Chris in the post. When 23 touches the ball good things happen.
Our team does not have a stabilizer. In that I mean when things are going haywire we have nobody who can calm the team down and get them together. That is another reason for our second half meltdowns with our guards. One of our four guards have to grown some cujones and take the team and be a leader by example. And also the other guys need to follow that leader if one steps forward.
I still love the win and how our team played in the first half we just have to continue that intenisty and cohesiveness for forty minutes. I think we can it is just a matter of doing it.

I definitely agree with renorvis. In the first half yesterday our offense was running like a well oiled machine. Jakubowski, Moten, and Knight played outstanding in that first half. Great passes, guys making the extra pass on the interior when needed, easy layins, and wide open looks from deep. We were knocking down those open 3 balls and everything looked rosey.

Then when UB started to score a little easier in the second half our offensive execution just seemed to fall apart. We no longer looked like we had a plan to execute on the offensive end in that second half. In the games I've seen this year (all wins since we're undefeated at home) this is what has gotten us in trouble time and time again. We go through stretches where we just don't look like we know what we want to accomplish.

It's great to get another home win, and even better to start the season off with a conference victory. Still, I wish we'd figure out these offensive lulls, because they're currently preventing this team from playing to it's total potential.

All of that was making me actually enjoy Falcon basketball again! Our team was meshing really well in the first half...I don't think I've ever seen them play like that to be honest. Those interior passes were a thing of beauty. I was especially glad to see Chris Knight just throw one down off the baseline. We have guys with some hops and I'd love to see them do that instead of missed lay-ups...it brings the crowd into it more as well.

The 2nd half, that was just a different story like everyone is saying. But man, if that first half playing style sticks around for entire games, for the first time in awhile I think BG is a solid MAC contender.
