FWIW: I would gamble HAMMB is right and he is out for the year. I have a Maniscus tear that has never been operated on. I also am not 6-10 and weigh 265 pounds. I imagine his knees take more pressure then mine. If he goes under the knife he will need 4-8 weeks to heal. It is going to depend on him. RICE first and if he is still having problems surgery.

As far as proving the argument, this wont prove a thing. You said he was a liability. Playing Marschall at the 5 wont prove that he is or is not a liability. I am just curious as to who guards the other teams big man when Polk is off the floor.

IMO Marschall is our best low post scorer and should be playing much more. If it proves to be not a big deal to have a 6-7 guy guarding the other teams 5 then Marschall should be on the floor every time over Larson. IMO Marschall has rare ability and could be a phenomenal 4 in the MAC.
The nice thing is that most MAC teams don't have a wealth of big men that you really need to guard. On top of that I think Otis might be the best defensive big man in the conference, if not he's close to it. If he plays within himself like he did most of last night's game we can get 25-30 minutes out of him we won't be as concerned about who guards the post for the other 10 minutes. Marschall is a defensive liability regardless of who he guards, so you may as well let him do the job. Maybe Knight would be fine against some of the quicker guys, but I would think he'd struggle against stronger centers.

We'll miss Larson on the defensive end, but I think the increased minutes for Knight & Marschall will more than balance it out on the offensive end. At least it looked that way last night. We'll see when we go against a team with a better front court. BSU was very weak inside.
I am entirely guilty of always wanting the simple prototypical 1-2-3-4-5 lineup. It is easier for me watching as few games as I can. I would rather see Marschall on the floor then Larson. With that said I think if the other team has a good Center Larson is a much better option.

As usual, hammbone is dead on, although it hurts to say so when the poor kid is currently suffering. What confounds is that the coach's decisions contradict. We will miss the depth - we are now down two front liners that started the season. Larson is one those who keeps the standards high for everyone - a pillar. Here's hoping he pulls through well.

LARSON DONE: Orr confirmed reserve center Marc Larson is out for the season following successful surgery last week to repair a torn meniscus. Larson, a junior, averaged 3.5 points and 2.9 rebounds in 18 games (12 starts).
