We may be looking at playing either Akron or OU in the first round game. We do match up well with either of these teams.

Especially Akron....we've now lost 12 of the last 13 to them. Unreal.

We sound absolutely scared of these guys.

They ought to get free tacos, chalupas and burritos after that shooting performance.

Akron was 32-58 FG shooting for 55%, 16-28 from 3, for 57% and 9-10 from the line, 90%.   Dang...

We lost the rebounding battle 43-28 and assist battle, 23-7.

Bottom line, we got a good ole fashioned azz whoopin...

The rebounding of late has been really bothersome. Sometimes other teams are going to hit a high percentage of their shots. There isn't a whole lot that can be done about that when it happens. But the rebounding disadvantage over the last handful of games is a troubling trend. It can't ALL be blamed on playing a zone.

Simply....TERRIBLE!!! No way we should be down 40 POINTS - on OUR home court - to ANY team in this conference!!! Especially in the state of the MAC right now! Glad I left work early, drove four hours round trip & bought tickets for this one. WTH was I thinking? That's seven consecutive times losing to Akron at home. That's the Zips' fourth consecutive senior class to walk away going 4-0 in their careers at Anderson Arena. Wow....

Perfectly said...the more I think of this performance, the more ticked off I get. I hate Akron.

Hearing Coach Orr's opening statement at the press conference after the game was absolutely painful. And pitiful.

Wow, I won't even go into the post game press conference. It's an argument not worth discussing. Last night was plain and simple. On one bench you had a championship calibur program, and one bench had mediocrity. No championship program ever loses by 40 at home and certainly doesn't allow it to happen to a team below them in the standings. Akron outhustled, outcoached, and had better talent at just about every position. Akron was hitting shots went up 15, and BG's staff had no ability to make sure that Duquesne did not happen again. When you play zone and the other team makes shots it's gonna be a tough night. When you play zone, don't hustle, don't rebound, and make zero adjustments to prevent wide open three pointers, you get embarrassed. Coach Orr's strength is also his biggest weakness. His laid back personality allows his teams to play loose on the road and sometimes that helps teams win games they maybe shouldn't. However, that same lack of urgency showed last night by the beating they allowed a team to put on them.
