Post by Globetrotter »

Side note. We have not had a guy average over 13.8 pts a game for 5 years..

2010-11 A’uston Calhoun 33 169 64 414 12.5
2009-10 Scott Thomas 30 138 85 397 13.2
2008-09 Nate Miller 30 170 50 414 13.8
2007-08 Nate Miller 30 148 76 395 13.2
2006-07 Martin Samarco 31 200 124 604 19.5

To put this in perspective. From 1948-2007 we only had 2 seasons where our lead scorer averged 13.8 pts or less. This has occurred each of the last 4 years with Calhoun leading the way with 12.6 this year.

That is crazy Globe. I think it really illustrates how Orr has struggled to bring in a true scorer the entire time he's been here. Calhoun is the closest thing we've developed to a "GO TO" guy other than Miller the 2nd half of his senior year. Still, as the numbers show, neither of them were/are true consistent scoring threats.

A big part of this is that Orr has yet to bring in a single decent jump shooter in his entire tenure.

It's pretty clear that offense is NOT Orr's #1 priority in recruiting, teaching, or on gameday.

Scott is now 33rd all time passing Bill Faine and Joe Gregory. He is now 33rd all time with 1067 pts. He needs 14 pts to pass Dave Esterkamp for 32nd.

Total Man Crush...almost as bad as my love for Tebow.....

To be honest I just think its amazing how high he is up in all of these categories when, as Hammb put it, he has never been the best player on his own team. Plus I think its really cool to go back right now and look at the guys he is passing. He is just about to pass Esterkamp and Miller, Netter and Ahlmanson are the next three.

Thomas is currently 7th all time in steals. Wth 3 more he passes Rosie Barnes into 6th all time. With 5 more he passes Antonio Daniels to 5th. He is on pace to finish with 190 for a career which would be 4th all time. He needs 193 for 3rd (DeMAr Moore) and 201 for 2nd (David Jenkins). Anthony Stacey is the all time leader with 226. He is on pace for 64 steals this season which would be the 6th most in a season ever. Last year he had 65.
4 steals already tonight and 1 last game move him into 5th

Scoring
Thomas moved into 32nd all time with 1111 career points. Needs 4 points to get to 31st (Kevin Netter). 23 for 30th (Nate Miller). 26 for 29th (Josh Ahlmanson) and 27 for 28th (Tommy Harris). He is on pace to get 364 for the season, 1232 for a career. That would put him at 24th.

Brown is at 907 now and on pace for 1001. Hope he finds a way to get that extra pt a game or so to get him over the milestone.

Calhoun is at 683 right now and on pace for 815 for a career with another season to go. He is on pace to finish his career at 1213, currently 24th all time but likely 25th with Thomas climbing the ranks.

Crawford is at 585 and is on pace to finish at 692 this year. He is on pace to finish his career at 1015.

*I am amazed that this team has 4 legitimate potential 1000 pt scorers (Not counting any of the freshman or sophomores who could be studs) on it and scoring tends to be a problem for us. Maybe this is more common then I am thinking yet we only have 38 in our entire history.

Steals
Thomas is currently tied for 4th all time in steals with Keith McCleod at 176. With 18 more he passes DeMar Moore for 3rd all time. He needs 201 for 2nd (David Jenkins). Anthony Stacey is the all time leader with 226. He is on pace for 75 steals this season which would tie Jenkins for 2nd all time. The 75 would be the 2nd most steals in a season ever. Last year he had 65.

Crawford has 105 currently and is on pace to finish his career at 175 or 7th all time.

Assists
Thomas currently has 278. He is on pace to pass Micheal Huger, Jeff Montgomery(10-283), DeMar Moore(9-289) and Keith McLeod (8-306) and finish with 309 which would be good for 8th all time. However...

Crawford currently has 273. He needs just 11 assists to break into the top 10 for a career. He is on pace to finish the year with 319 and 8th all time with an entire year to go. Should Thomas reach his expected number Crawford would be 8th and Thomas 9th. Crawford is on pace to finish his career with 457 career assists placing him 4th all time behind Pardon, Daniels and Greer.

Rebounds
Thomas currently has 607 and is on pace to get to 675. That number would be 10th all time passing Joe Moore at 651.

Blocks
Cam Black is on pace for 48 blocks this year which would be the 4th most ever in one season. If he continued that pace for the rest of his career he would finish with 162 career blocks surpassing Otis Polk at 159 for the most ever as a falcon.

Scott Thomas is
On pace for 24th all time scoring
On pace for 2nd all time steals
On pace for 9th all time assists
On pace for 10th all time rebounds

Jordan Crawford is
On pace for 4th all time in assists
On pace for 7th all time in steals

On paper we have potentially one of the best shot blockers in our teams history, 4 solid scorers, An incredible utility guy and a solid pg.

Those are all great stats, up their with the leaders in points and assists, etc. 4 1000 point scorers. But how many MAC titles have they won. How many MAC tournament games. Enough said. I think we all know where the blame lies and NO I do not blame Crawford.

And Negative Nancy appears once again. The point of all of this was to celebrate the accomplishments of the individual players. How about this one: Eli Manning has won 2 Super Bowls...but he hasn't won three, and we all know where the blame lies for that one.

There are plenty of other topics on this section of the board that are bashing the current overall performance of the team. No reason to drag it into this one, too.

Interesting note from the SIDs notes

ONE OF THE BEST
With an assist against Ohio, Scott Thomas moved into 10th place all-time at BGSU in career assists. He already ranks fourth in career steals and sixth in career three-pointers. With 15 more rebounds, he will move into the top 10 in that category as well. He is one of only eight players ever to rank in the top 10 in BGSU history in three different statistical categories. Here is the complete list:
BGSU Players Who Rank In Career Top 10 In At Least Three Categories
Name Number Categories
Keith McLeod 5 Pts, Ast, Stl, 3-pointers, 3-point%
Antonio Daniels 5 Pts, Ast, Stl, 3-pointers, 3-point%
Josh Almanson 4 Field Goal%, Free-Throw%, Blk, 3-point%
Joe Moore 4 Field Goal%, Reb, Blk, Stl
Len Matela 3 Pts, Field Goal%, Reb
Steve Martenet 3 Field Goal%, Free-Throw%, 3-point%
DeMarr Moore 3 Ast, Stl, 3-pointers
Scott Thomas 3 Ast, Stl, 3-pointers

Ya know, it's a pity that DeMar lost half a season in his career. IIRC he's still at Sandusky as a volunteer/assistant coach. Works(ed) for Erie County.
