The Anderson Animals
yeah i am really excited for this it's going to be awesome mcmetz and i have been working for about 3 weeks trying to get this done and we did it!!! All of your ideas are welcome and if you want a shirt we will hook you up with one!! They are going to look awesome!! I got chills today when we went to turn in our order a new era is coming be a part of it and get the word out. I would also like to say that we are in no way trying to out do the sideline squad we just want to do something of our own and not be like the sideline of late so please don't be offended by this.
I'm an ANDERSON ANIMAL!!!

It's more than just getting a shirt though, there's a commitment involved... that's the whole point.bgkarabear wrote:Somehow, I totally missed this thread ...but I want one! This sounds so cool!
Nice work Metz... oh...and in the band thread you claimed you're NOT a geek?? You might want to re-think that!

You're absolutely right! That's the kind of rabid fan support we're trying to re-generate!!Dayons_Den wrote:The Animals the full support of Dayon's Den and Joe Bair's Lair- two great fan sections ahead of their times. .. .

I am not rethinking that! I am a very spirited individual and if that makes me seem geeky to people, I'm cool with thatZiggyZoomba wrote: Nice work Metz... oh...and in the band thread you claimed you're NOT a geek?? You might want to re-think that!

People who are interested in these shirts besides the ones I've already contacted, here is the deal. If you would like a shirt for the Toledo game, you must attend three of the following games: Buffalo, NIU, Eastern Michigan, and Western Michigan. Yes Buffalo is over break and Eastern is on the road but like Grant has stated, this is about commitement. We want true fans and you need to prove to us you are first. I'm not trying to sound sideline squadish by letting certain people in but rather giving you an incentive to be there at the most excited basketball games you will ever see! Here is a link to their schedule so you all get the dates and times right!ZiggyZoomba wrote: It's more than just getting a shirt though, there's a commitment involved... that's the whole point. That's what I like about this idea and why I'm helping out with the sponsorship of it.

Well shoot...it's going to be very impossible for me to make it here for Buffalo since I'm actually going to be near Buffalo on the second visiting family...and I would roadtrip to Eastern but I have a 6-9 on Wednesday nights...and skipping the 1st class is a big no-no or else I would...so that only leaves me able to go to 2 of those games...can I find a game to substitute for Buffalo or Eastern?McMetz811 wrote:People who are interested in these shirts besides the ones I've already contacted, here is the deal. no offense to you all but....
Why does everyone think they need a shirt or be in some kind of sideline club or fan club to be a great fan? Does that mean you are a better fan than other people? I am a senior and can count the number of home games I have missed on one hand. I have taken trips to EMU, Toledo, Michigan, Ball State and the Gund Arena, plus Ohio State and other places for women's games. I wear an ORANGE shirt everytime because I am a BG fan and I root for the guys on the floor in ORANGE and BROWN. Ya, I would get real pissed freshman year when we would get there 2 hours early and have to wait outside in the snow for a half hour(no thanks to you mr elsasser) just to get front row seats and then watch the sideline squad waltz in during the national anthem. But there is nothing you can do about that. Are you guys doing this because you are true fans or because you are POed at the sideline squad and trying to show them up? Look at Duke. They have the best student section in the nation and they are ALL cameron crazies. The Republicans and Democrats vowed to unify and thats what would be best for a great student section as well
PS---> I am excited about the possibility of having to show up early again this year to get seats. The crowds are going to be great for MAC games this year!!!!

my student years are WAYYY behind me (though not as far behind me as some others here
), and I don't know EXACTLY what goes on with who shows up when, but I'll agree with your point that you don't need a shirt to be a great fan, show up hours early and yell your ass off. But apparently, having said shirts has given one group preferential treatment, so why not let a group make up some different shirts, show their spirit that way, and yell just as much? From what I've heard, if just wearing these "sideline squad" shirts let you stumble into a game drunk with 5 minutes off the clock, I'm all for a group taking the initiative to set themselves apart as a different group that can yell just as loud and be just as big of a fan. Who cares if 10 kids wear a shirt that says "I like cheese!" on it, if they're cheering for BG. Right now it seems that the folks in the program and the staff at AA think these sideline squadders are the only fans that are there all the time... if you make them notice you by a shirt, hat, pants or whatever, more power to ya.
the only request I have is that the t-shirts ya hand out to the chicks be missing the bottom half...

I'm against any program that provides preferential treatment to snake hat man. That guy looks like the red neck Rasputin.
Granting special treatment to a class of individuals simply because they wear a certain t-shirt is unAmerican. Doing so because they're wearing the right business suit or cashmere top coat is decidely American.
I know it's a fine line, but someone has to draw it.
