I would be pretty shocked if we have a coach by then.

Anybody affiliated with any successful program is going to still be playing for at least another week or two. I could be wrong, but I don't think basketball coaches leave their teams out to dry before the big dance the way football coaches do before bowl games. I am positive Kingston has his list, but it is conceivable that he'll have to wait a few weeks before even being able to talk with everybody on that list.
I know but it would be ideal. Probably doesnt matter too much anymore with so much video everywhere but if it's a guy unfamiliar with Ohio hoops thats the place to get familiar.

He never recovered from that quixotic presidential bid in '96. At least we wouldn't have to worry about salary.

As already noted, I'd be shocked if the process moved that fast. I would expect Kingston is busy making contact with potential coaches and gathering information, but probably won't really be able to talk with folks until their seasons are finished. So, if he's eying coaches whose teams are in the NCAA, it won't be until they are eliminated that he'll likely have a chance to interview them -- and that will be long after the high school tourney is over.

BG is going to be at a great disadvantage in recruiting for this class for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the timing. It's why keeping Orr another year really hurt the program even more. Not only did we have to suffer through another horrid season, but it pushed back the turnaround time another year, at least.

The good thing is that it really only takes one good class to turn your program around in basketball. And if Kingston can find a candidate who was already recruiting and familiar with players, BG might luck out and a player or two of quality may decide to follow the new coach to BG rather than go to a the school the coach was previously recruiting for.

Where the new coach will have to make in-roads in Ohio is by hiring at least one assistant who is already familiar with Ohio's up and coming talent, and (hopefully) known and liked by Ohio's coaching community. If he can find someone that fits those qualifications, it will provide a jump start on recruiting future classes.

Was looking around and both Appalachia ST and Loyola Marymount let their coaches contracts run out and did not fire a year early. Thats two atleast.
