Denny injury must be due to the hard floors at the Stroh.

Man, that really sucks for him. Hopefully, it's not a re-injury. Did it look like a knee or an ankle? Hopefully an ankle.

What confused me was the number of available scholarships. Coach J said two. 2???? Did we have low APR's? I hadn't heard of a reduction. Was the sweatsuit squad on scholie?

Anyway, I'll be checking the roster list to see who shrinks away.

Not sure. I went out and watched the presser. Perhaps coach was confused or just counting the 2 seniors. He said he will treat them like bars of gold. Geeze, let's spend a half-a-bar and get an extra player. Zack may not last a whole season! They should start buying crutches at the wholesale medical supplies place.

Outside of Holmes and Parker, I can't think of any must haves for next season.

Can we get John Wagner on the case that Denny was on crutches to prevent himself from being exposed in the open gym on Coach Jans' first night on the job?

Henderson is a solid 4th or 5th wheel. Clarke might be a really nice swing guard off the bench. Orr is a decent 4 or 5 guy as well. Is a fundamentally sound glue player who does everything decent.

It looks like the Shockers started a 5-11 guy, 6-2, 6-3, 6-8 and then 6-9.

A lineup of the below might be interesting

XXX-Clarke-Tisdale-Edwards-(Lyshe?)
Henderson-Clarke-Tisdale-Denney
Orr-Parker-Tisdale
Parker-Holmes-Mayleben
Holmes-Gomez

I watched more than handful of games but you guys are closer to it than I am.

What I see in Clarke is poor decision making and a kid who makes sure he gets his first.

Ideally, we would bring Parker off the bench as our energy/glue guy.

Holmes is the closest guy we have to a stud but he's a four. Lets not take away his best attributes by putting him at 5

If Coach Jans only gets two schollies then this would be my five:

G- JUCO/Post Grad
G- Orr
F- Parker
F- Holmes
C- JUCO/Post Grad

Completely agree on Holmes. Not sure how Orr can be at the two defensively. Others can probably say more.

I think Orr-Clarke-Henderson-Parker-Holmes-Tisdale is a decent enough six player group in a nine to ten man rotation. As you said we need a pg to facilitate and a banger to keep Holmes from playing center a ton.

I shudder to think that the coach of BGSU would "run off" any of the guys on the roster. All of the players on the team seem to be fine people who represent the university well. They're all Falcons until they decide they don't want to be anymore. That's not to say that everyone deserves equal amounts of playing time with any newcomers or that the entire roster will be a fit for any new system the staff utilizes.

I'm thankful Chauncey Orr is going to remain on the team. I've thought he might be one of a few individuals with the demeanor and personality to make such a scenario work.

Again, I believe the answer is yes. I've forgotten where that information came from. Perhaps it was a John Wagner tweet during the season.

AGAIN, I am NOT condoning "cutting" or "running players off" but let's be real, there is very little legit D1 talent on this roster.

I think it is more than fair like any staff SHOULD do after EACH season and re-evaluate whether a coaching change has taken place or not. At some kids get over recruited. Better players are brought in. BG did not hire Coach Jans to do a job with one hand tied behind hid back.

Natural attrition will occur most years, that process is expedited when staff changes. We're not going to have 8 new players next year, but kids (I wont name, who are 19-23 yr old kids doing something I would've loved to do) deserve to know whether they will play in the future or if their future is better served elsewhere.

I tweeted John Wagner and Jack Carle about the situation. I didn't hear anything back from Wagner and Carle replied "apparently".

On Clarke: he plays out of control and is a below average decision maker. Further, his shooting % is unacceptable. HOWEVER, he has tons of talent and speed. Give him the benefit of a year under coach Jans and perhaps we can see a big advances in his game. I'm still a fan of Clarke and believe that he can be awesome. Let's give him the offseason and a chance under a coach that knows how to develop him.

On Henderson: the main thing I see holding him back is his own self confidence. Again, he'll benefit from playing for coach Jans. Having a year experience of full-time will help his confidence for next year immensely.

On Orr: I agree that he's has a high basketball IQ and could be a stabilizing presence in the rotation. At 6-4, I'd like to see more athleticism, but he can compensate for that if he hits 3s.

On Tisdale: Perhaps he'd be a candidate to take over PG and free up Clarke to play the wing (with his incredible driving skills)? Like Henderson, I see problems with self-confidence that may be improved for next year.

Parker and Holmes might form the best forward tandem in the MAC next year. Parker, however, has a knack for making dumb plays and committing too many turnovers. Let's hope he improves on that.

Remember that NOBODY is "entitled" to having a scholarship for next year. I don't see the ethical problem with having guys like Gomez and Maybelen move on if they don't fit or are under-talented (...and I can't say for sure if this is the case). A new coach should be upfront about this and help them find new situations. The alternative is the player wasting their eligibility where they are not wanted.
