ZULU WARRIOR

I ziga zumba zumba zumba,
I ziga zumba zumba zai.
I ziga zumba zumba zumba,
I ziga zumba zumba zai.

Hold him down, you Zulu warrior,
Hold him down, you Zulu chief.
Hold him down, you Zulu warrior,
Hold him down, you Zulu chief, chief, chief...

Whilst half the group chant 'Chief, Chief. Chief.....
the other half start the song over.

Just saying. looks a lot like the fight song. This has been in S. African culture since the Zulu wars (1870's). Considered a children's song/camp fire song for boy scouts etc..
Thanks for posting this! It is fun hearing how the song is traditionally sung.

Here's a link with how BGSU adopted the song ... http://www.bgsusports.com/mambo/content/view/200/70/

Maybe we should have been the Bowling Green Chiefs instead of the Bowling Green Falcons. Thanks for sharing!

I don't know about you, but I ALWAYS sang it "Roll Along and FIGHT for BGSU!" That is the way we sang it when I was here and for a long time after that. When did it change to "WIN for BGSU? Clearly, I have no problem with "winning," but it bothers me that it changed more than anything. :? #-o
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Marta I believe it changed when the world for too politically correct and were afraid fighting for bgsu would hurt somebody's feelings.

I certainly know I was taught fight for bgsu and still sing it that way.

I still use fight. I'm wondering if somebody messed up the lyrics on that website.

As far as I know, it has always been "win". Several years ago I designed a shirt which became the official student section shirt and had the lyrics on the back. I had to look it up on the website because I too thought it was " fight", but the athletic department website and my old marching band handbook from even more years ago both confirmed "win". I was a bit surprised but since then have always used "win" instead of "fight".

I'm a current student, we've been yelling fight all year. I believe the athletics department has messed up the words to Forward Falcons and the alma mater on the website, too.
