Toledo's AD has done a fantastic job of getting the department through the whole gambling issues and competitive in both football and basketball. BG is still trying to recover from the losing atmosphere that Greg Christopher instilled in his 6 years on the job.
I'm quite confident Jans will make BG Basketball a contender again soon. Football I'm 50/50 on, but I think the Sebo Center still gives us a big edge in recruiting vs the majority of the MAC. Hockey seems to be in the right league from a competition standpoint. If BG ever gets its act together and reinstates baseball's scholarships, they will be annual contenders for sure. Just look at Coach Schmitz's track record.
BG isn't too far away from being back to competitive in the important sports (no offense women's athletics fans). It is just going to take some more time and hopefully Kingston backs up all his talk of improving scholarships, facilities, and budgets.

Well, that is going to offend.

It is hard for me to imagine that college baseball will ever generate as much fan interest at BGSU as women's basketball has. I'm pretty sure the women have outdrawn the men a couple of recent seasons.

Women's hoops is off this year...but swimming and diving is killing it and gymnastics is doing well also. We have a s**t ton of track athletes already qualified for MAC championships and Brooke Pleger is the closest thing to a national champ...aside from cheer...that you'll find on this campus. You want to be a misogynist? Root for BYU. Our slogan isn't "3-4 sports that matter and a bunch more that don't count ... one team"
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

The department as a whole needs to put more of an emphasis on beating Toledo. There's a sense that these games have been reduced to being just like the others and not given the weight and respect that the rivalry deserves. It's high time to change that.
