I am sure we have known about this and been preparing (the remaining coaches), but I am very troubled by this situation. Vandiver was a very nice person no question. Markowski was a very tall person (smile) no question. Probably both were OK coaches.

But now we lose half our staff as school starts and as we get ready to go? Who will join us and how good will they be? Northern Colorado D 2? Yes, Vandiver is a former Colorado player, but he is not a native of Colorado. I don't have his whole bio memorized, but hasn't he spent only the undergrad years in that state? This seems highly unusual to me.

Markowski/family/etc. OK by me. It's college coaching. Travel, hours, young kids, etc. No doubt a very difficult job.

Were these two guys effective for us during the July evaluation period or were they "half gone" then?

I am behind our remaining coaches and our players 100%, but, boy,.....

Go Falcons!

if you were an assistant the head coach is very vitale to your job security...and if i'm a bg assistant i would take any job to get out of this program before the end of the year and then you have no say in leaving BGSU

downward spiral continues

No need to get all conspiratorial here. Northern Colorado is a D1 school (just made the jump w/in the past year). Check out their site, see who they're playing, their schedule is loaded. He'll be moving from the 3rd assistant to the first assistant. It's a great move up for Shaun.

As for Andy...well, if you don't want to coach, you don't want to coach!

Northern Colorado is not D-2 . . . In fact this year they look to be a D-1 independent . . . Here is a look at their schedule with names such as Syracuse, Colorado State, Oklahoma, Utah, Texas Tech and Gonzaga . . .

http://uncbears.collegesports.com/sport ... sched.html

With several D-2's still filling out their schedule . . . the UNCO schedule is still very competitive.

Congratulations to both Coach Vandiver and Coach Markowski for making decisions that better themselves and their families.

MY BAD GRANT . . . I was posting the same thing at the same time . . .

zz and option, thanks for all the good corrections (super schedule!) on Northern Colorado/ D 1. I have been on that campus. It is a very nice place.

I wish all the departing coaches nothing but the best.

I guess I am just a little jumpy. The overall news is just very negative. Unless Moon Robinson or M. Soler can be a MAC Newcomer of the Year, all the news has been negative. Maybe I missed other rays of sunshine.

But I'm a very positive guy so: Go Falcons!!!

Its certainly no wonder why this wasn't officially released over the last few weeks. It could have looked really bad.

We gotta get back on the right track.
