Re: BG vs Cincinnati 8pm ESPNU
Those last 2 shots were killers. Went from 11 to 17

You forgot to add "history" to the end of your sentence.
I cannot fathom any other shooter going from 37% to 70-80% in one offseason...it's crazy.
Oh and this game sucks. We cannot play with teams like this. We've got no size, and aren't nearly athletic enough to hang. Hope we find a way to prove me wrong and get it closer in the 2nd half. Only way I see it is if we go crazy from 3, but that isn't exactly a strong point either...

Cincy is long and athletic and very good defensively.
Still I'm very disappointed in Lillard being completely unable it unwilling to attack off the dribble.
One of those games where every basket we score feels like luck. Nice to see Denny making some shots though

Turned it off. I think this team has enough talent to compete in the MAC. Just wish we had enough size.
Re: BG vs Cincinnati 8pm ESPNU
This team has a long way to go. Competitive in the MAC, maybe. Bottom 3 most likely.
Re: BG vs Cincinnati 8pm ESPNU
Hopefully the team keeps getting better as the year goes on...I don't see us making much noise in the MAC but who knows? It's just too bad the whole Jan's situation happened...i really felt he was the type of coach who could get us to the NCAA. His whole fiasco happens and then we basically start from scratch again. Just feels like this program has been going nowhere for the past 12 years...frustrating because BG basketball used to be really fun to watch.

It doesn't appear that Lillard is what we hoped he was. So far anyway.
Re: BG vs Cincinnati 8pm ESPNU
Jans was the coach who would have gotten BG to the tournament. What can you do? This team hasn't improved much at all from last year.

Re: BG vs Cincinnati 8pm ESPNU
Sorry, but this team is just plain unwatchable. It's sad to see what happened to a once proud program. It basically looked like a college vs. a high school team. Just looking at the bodies of the Cincinnati players, forget the issue with the height, to a man we were likely outweighed by 20-30 pounds each and we still could not keep up with them.
And couple that with the idiotic launching of shots for no reason whatsoever. On one play, we inbound a ball to guy near the 3pt line with a new shot clock and a guy right on him and he just turns around and throws up a prayer like the clock was running out!
I don't see much hope of doing anything in the MAC this year. I gotta feel for Huger...seems like a nice guy, but he's going to have to work like hell to get some athletes in here. Either that, or he has to start looking for guys who lack a bit athletically but who have high basketball IQ's. Sadly, I don't see either currently.

Not sure what you are seeing overall. Sure we have bad moments but Huger has recruited very well. Some guys have to add weight for sure but otherwise the talent is there. The starting lineup, if it could ever get consistently good could win the MAC. We are much more athletic then we have been in awhile. Against Cincinnati, one of the best programs in the country that isn't going to be obvious. In the MAC it is. What this team needs is consistency and depth, not better talent. There is tons of talent already.Redwingtom wrote:Sorry, but this team is just plain unwatchable. It's sad to see what happened to a once proud program. Re: BG vs Cincinnati 8pm ESPNU
Sorry Globe, but I just don't see it. Tons of talent? Who is even All-MAC? BG lacks shooting, and depth, and size. Louis Orr was an awful coach, but atleast you knew one thing BG would always have. Size to protect the rim in the center of the zone. It forced teams to shoot the ball well, and if they didn't, BG would be in any game. I have no idea what this team is even trying to be. Last night Ali is playing really well with 2 fouls first half. He exits the game with like 3-4 minutes left in the half, BG barely even gets shot off down the stretch, lead extends from 9 to 17 by the half. Small freshman guards were going to get overwhelmed by Cincinnati's size. I haven't seen all of the games, but Worrell looks like he has taken a step back IMO. I'd also argue that BG's out of conference schedule the past two seasons, is the weakest in programs history. Anytime they have stepped up in competition they have been crushed. I hope Huger is the guy to get this thing turned around, but roughly 40 games into this I see a below average program. Just my opinion.
