And we'll never be Royals v BG. 12/28 5:30?
Re: And we'll never be Royals v BG. 12/28 5:30?
If I'm not mistaking I believe it was Wright State that cancelled in August. I know it was an in-state State School. Can't remember if it was Wright State or Cleveland State.

Both Huger and TU coach were interviewed and said hardest part of their job is SCHEDULING. Can't get "biggies " to come to BG unless they can give. 2 for1 deal, and even that's hard to do. I'd like to see a schedule w/ Wright St., Youngstown, CSU, and possibly Dayton ( harder I know).
I didn't know MAC had a rule that teams MUST have 15 home games on schedule. Would seem like Horizon League teams are our best bet . Would think it could be helpful to those schools too.

Northern Illinois plays Iowa. Miami plays Ohio State. And we play Erie and Lourdes.

How is that bitching. It was pointed out that BG and Toledo have trouble scheduling OOC games and EMU play 4 Non D1 schools.factman wrote:Bitch........bitch.........bitch!
I was simply saying BG scheduled Erie and Lourdes yet Miami schedule OSU and Northern can schedule Iowa. Northern and Miami are at the same level as us yet they find ways to get better opponents. Sorry if you thought it was bitching. I'm done commenting on this site. Everyone complains to much as of late, too many new trolls. Been here since day 1 (first few years was under a different name) but I'm out. Too much 'bitching and complaining'. Go Falcons. - Class of 94

The odds of gmartin not posting again are similar to that of the “flasher” football recruit graduating from BGSU. Mike Jinks taking over for Urban Meyer at OSU. Or, any of his 5 different, million dollar proposal/buyouts actually happening.

No...........don't go..........please.........stop.............. So does this mean that the Gmartin Athletic Complex and Stadium is still a possibility with all the money your family donates to the university, or will you be pulling that also? And once you leave, do I get unblocked?gmartin wrote:How is that bitching. No, you would need to start making sense to get unblocked.
Re: And we'll never be Royals v BG. 12/28 5:30?
I do have to say it is somewhat frustrating to see emu playing Syracuse last weekend and now Miami is in Columbus.
I realize scheduling is a pain in the ass for all of us, but is really like to see the team schedule a couple of these Marquee games every season. Maybe you could make the argument that we're not ready to play these teams, but so what? No better way to prepare to win tough games than by playing tough opponents.

Re: And we'll never be Royals v BG. 12/28 5:30?
The MAC could help by not requiring 15 home games. Instead require 13 and let the teams decide how to schedule. With 15, it's difficult to schedule a 1 and done at OSU and the like because it uses up one of our 1:1 opportunities with the Horizon and others. With a requirement of 15 the numbers work against us and thus the non D1 opponents.
EDIT: The MAC could also accept 2 neutral site games as equivalent to 1 true home game. That would also help.

Perhaps what BG/UT. Coaches are alluding to is getting those 15 HOME games. Mentioning what NIU and Miami schedules include are NOT home games. I do recall BG scheduling OSU a couple of times many yrs ago. In fact I'm almost sure one resulted in a Falcon win.

Maybe the two coaches from UT and BG should agree to play each other in a non conference game at the site of the school that doesn't host the league game. Good crowd and good atmosphere! Why they don't is beyond me.

This should be a complete non issue.
1. Huger has coached in this league for awhile and under what I assume is a well-respected veteran coach in Larranaga. I don't see why we are not getting a trip to Miami every year. Larranaga probably has assistants throughout the country as well.
2. James Madison should probably be on our schedule every year. Rowe is part of Huger's coaching tree.

Within the MAC footprint we have 20 schools that are not Big East or Big 10. We should have no trouble rotating home and homes with these guys and even building up a rivalry with some where we play every year.
