Well let’s look at the positives thus far with Huger as coach
2016 run to MAC Semifinals
Coached a team that beat Toledo
Lots of hype
Beat USC..........Upstate USC
Negatives:
Yet to finish above 10th in the MAC
Losing seasons despite some of the worst schedules in school history
In the few instances in which has played top competition, blown off the court in every instance
Most talented player, and player who carried the MAC Tournament run, suspended 3 or 4 times, I’ve lost count.
Lots of teams have talent, but coaching is what matters most.

I'm not just going to lament the kid that we didn't offer. Yeah, he looked real good yesterday, he's a good athlete. I'm not convinced (yet) that he's some huge recruit that we missed out on though. Yeah, I do wish we would more frequently try to nab the Toledo City League player of the year, that league does produce some talent, but we've got good players at his position too. Plowden fits that similar player profile, and is probably a better shooter.
I have a much bigger issue with how our C has 3 inches and 40 pounds on Brown while our PF has 2 inches and 60 pounds on Brown and they got absolutely destroyed by him on the boards. That should NEVER happen. I don't care how good of an athlete he is (and he is athletic) he shouldn't be able to get around our bigs at will like that.
We played like s**t. That Miami team tried to hand us the game from the opening tip and we were so damned bad we didn't want it.

I have not looked it up or tried to do the math (math is never my thing), but it SEEMS to me that Huger's teams lose far too many home games they shouldn't. Am I wrong on that? I often get the feeling the Stroh does not really provide much home court advantage, and if that's the case, is that coaching? Or is it poor recruiting, in that the players don't respond to being on their own home court (I know, lots of supposition here, but I am curious what others might think.)hammb wrote:I'm not just going to lament the kid that we didn't offer. Not sure if you're right on that or not... but the Stroh hasn't proved to be a great home venue, because it's rarely more than half full... and seldom has much of a student body in attendance. Of course part of that has to do with some pretty weak teams.
The women have worked around this by their school crowd days. Not sure if this would work for men's games.
If you compare Stroh to Anderson Arena, I think you see what a home floor advantage is.
