Maybe they are trying to hide their dynamic offense until the regular season with fear that other teams will scout us vigorously and see our holes.
I didn't DISLIKE Laster. I just didn't see anything that popped to me.

He seems like a decent athlete. Perhaps our best ball handler for the PG spot. But I saw a lot of Caldwell type stuff from him. Not saying he won't be better than Caldwell (he probably will be, based on size alone). But I saw a lot of either dribbling to force the issue to the rim, or dribbling into step back jumpers.

I don't remember any drive and kick, I don't remember ever getting easy buckets off those pick n roll plays, etc. Certainly could just be the coaching not using the talent we have correctly, but I figure it's a little of both.
He eats up a lot of space with his dribble which I think will help him get to the basket. I do question if he is the facilitator/distributor that would be ideal.

The only easy buckets we got were on breakaways.

Mattos did get a couple by screen and rolling.

It's really impossible to gather anything from an exhibition against a D-III opponent. Guys are shaking off rust with their shots, playing at full speed for the first time, facing a team relying on being scrappy, etc. I was at the DePaul exhibition last night in Chicago and they only beat a way undersized D-II school by 7 points. That doesn't mean they're going to go 0-28, but it highlighted some things to correct. The bigger sign of things to come will be how their shooting and ball handling improves against Tiffin (who BG should also beat by 35 points).

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

I think its more problematic to us that they didn't even try to run any new offensive sets and they don't seem to realize that the PF position isn't Horace Grant anymore.

Speaking of DePaul, I don't know if it was mentioned here, but BG beat them in a "secret" scrimmage within the last week in Chicago.

Shhhh!! You are not supposed to know that. That's why no media was allowed and nothing was reported.

Well thats a positive. I really don't get how we can be as bad as we looked. 4 returning starters all have been in the program for atleast 2 years already. if we are bad, and they don't fire Huger it's an awful decision.

If I was going to map out minutes this year it would look like this.

1 Frye 20 Laster 20
2 Turner 20 Frye 10 Fields 10
3 Lillard 25 Turner 10 Plowden 5
4 Plowden 20 Sierra 10 Mattis 10
5 Wiggins 25 Mattos 7.5 Uju 7.5

If you get a chance watch from about 1:35 on. Lots of PT for Fields, Mattos and Mattis.
