Well, if we're talking about ALL Falcon basketball games, until yesterday I thought that the two women's MAC tourney games that Austin (or "Heartbreaker," as we began calling her!) won with buzzer beater jumpers from the exact same spot on the floor were the greatest basketball games I would ever see anywhere. I must stress the "until yesterday" part of that statement...
That being said, I am a youngin' and I wasn't really around for much of the McLeod era or anything. So, take this with a grain of salt.

Well said Bleeding! I took the Freaklings out of school for that BG/WMU Tourney game and when Austin hit the game winner???? WOW>
I couldn't go to the Miami game but taped it while I was at work. I didn't listen to the radio the whole way home cuz I wanted to watch it like it was live. When Austin hit the game winner again, I was rolling on the floor screaming and laughing...Mrs Freak thought I was having a seizure. I am glad I have that Miami game and the title game vs EMU on tape.

Boy Freak, I hate to keep asking you for tapes, but I'd pay a pretty penny to have those two games sitting next to me right now....

Ok history and trivia buffs- can you name the former Falcon Club president that played for that Wisconsin team that lost to the Falcons?fredthefalcon wrote:Ok then I'll go back in the wayback machine again to when I was on the 1st row and watched the last BG team to make the Big Dance (1968) beat two consecutive Big Ten teams at AA--Wisconsin and Michigan. This team eventually won the MAC and lost to Marquette by one when the NCAA only allowed 16 teams.TG1996 wrote:1963, actually. I think that's easily the biggest win in school history, with the win over MSU a decent second, but I think this thread was started with "best games I've seen in person".fredthefalcon wrote:The No. 1 alltime has to be so long ago that most on this board were not around walking this mortal coil. Actually, it predates my recollection a bit but it was when Nate Thurmond and Howie Komives and the boys beat a then #1 ranked and unbeaten Loyola of Chicago who I think was eventually the NCAA champs. Year? without looking it up I would guess 1961.

I"ll let that TRIVIA question stay out there for a while longer yet. . .
As far as getting the BG history bug. . . woulld you buy a BG legends t-shirt- similar theme to my signature graphic? (click on it to see a Doyt Perry one and a Bernie Casey one). . I'd really like to start a line of shirts touting our legends.

Hmmm... at first I wasn't big on the thought of shirts, but thinking again, that seems like a cool idea if done well. Sometimes photographs on t-shirts wear away after a time, but the shirts could be marketed well to an array of fans at all sports events. (I've got first dibs on the Mick Milnark shirt!Dayons_Den wrote: As far as getting the BG history bug. . . woulld you buy a BG legends t-shirt- similar theme to my signature graphic? BG beat Michigan St. in December of 1990. MSU was #3 at the time, but had lost earlier in the week to Nebraska, thus taking a little bit of the luster off our win.
I seem to remember Kirk Whiteman hitting a buzzer-beater against Toledo in either the spring of 89 or 90 that was pretty good.

That Kirk Whiteman buzzer-beater was one of my all-time favorites too. Ed Colbert got the ball under the hoop and could have gone up with it, but he had the presence of mind to kick it out to Kirk W who nailed the last-second three.FormerFreddie wrote:BG beat Michigan St. in December of 1990. That whole series started because some UT guy tried to dribble behind his back and lost control of it!

Until recently, Jenny bartended at Brathaus. She was a senior when I was a freshman in high school. Had an art class with her and she made that class.Dayons_Den wrote:Ding ding ding dingFalcon Commander wrote:No, sorry - correction
