Have the new owners learned how to cook yet? Man that place was my favorite restaurant in the area, bar none. The place I was most looking forward to dining out again after getting vaccinated. Man we were so completely blown away and disappointed in that meal we haven't been back since. I found out later that Garret and Griffin had sold it shortly before COVID hit.

Uh oh. Last time I was there was pre-Covid. Guess we could be in for a surprise.

My issue is what made me love the place was how everything was homemade. Made all their sauces, sides, etc, from scratch. They are still selling a lot of the same menu they had before, but we were off to a very disappointing start right from the getgo. The Dip Trio appetizer that was always homemade salsas and queso originally came out with what was obviously a premade queso, jarred salsa, and clearly premade disgusting guacamole.

Burger menu was changed slightly (got rid of the hangover). Gone was the house touches like their cumin dusted bacon. Worse, the menu now read "burgers cooked mid to mid-well"...AKA "We don't know how to properly cook a burger so take it the way we make it". Fries were still the same, my kid's chicken fingers were basically the same.

Beer & Drink selections were still solid. We both ordered draft beers, so I don't know if the cocktail making process has changed. Menu still looks good.

They went from my very favorite type of restaurant (creative bar food, making things from scratch, executing it all well), to my absolute biggest pet peeve of restaurant: Bar food with fancy sounding/creative names, but everything tastes like it just came from a GFS truck. I hope they get the magic back, I absolutely loved that place. Hung out there all the time in my 20s, knew the bartenders by name, it was our post wedding reception hangout, etc...

I've never been there. My old boss loved going there to drink on the weekends, so I avoided it so I wouldn't have to have a weird social thing. Honestly, I go to Pork Belly BBQ if I want good food in BG.

Porkbelly does a nice job. Met the owner years ago at the fairgrounds well before he opened the storefront, and we chatted BBQ for quite awhile. Seemed like a good dude.

We ate at the storefront once before COVID. Food that we got was good, but they ran out of everything. I don't so much mind that with BBQ (in fact I expect it for a good BBQ restaurant), but they weren't very forthcoming with it. They let us stand in line for an hour or so to get a table before letting us know they were out of half the meats. While we were eating they ran out of a couple other meats and still weren't letting the people waiting for tables know, so other patrons were going up to let others waiting know that they were running real low on availability.

This reminds me I need to get back there again this hoops season. The food was pretty good, if they resolved that minor beef at the front of the house could be a good go to.

Honestly my go to for food in BG these days is South Side 6 or Pollyeyes. Revs & Myles were my favorites....

Check out Sworden's sometime. They set up on the Northside of Wooster between Dairy Queen and Taco Bell area. Wednesday through Fridays usually.

Rev’s report. I noticed the jalapeño burger was stricken from the menu. Sad. Noticed some other items were missing. Stayed very basic with a Swiss burger. It was fine. But the changes are obvious.
