We are still an abysmally coached team. That is evident all night long.

That said if Ayers and Curtis can make enough happen on their own with Matheny (or somebody else) shooting we can still get wins. Agee is a presence around the glass. No he's not polished or even super athletic but he battles his ass off and can get loose balls and put backs. I like that.

I still don't think we end up very good but keep finding ways to win and maybe they'll probe me wrong. We won a lot of games playing awful basketball with Turner carrying the load. Maybe we'll find a way to do so again.

I won't complain about good tough road victories noatter how sustainable it feels.

Was able to catch the game on ESPN+. A good road win but I'll be honest...i don't know much about this year's team yet.

FINAL SCORE? After reading most comments, I thought we were getting creamed. Obviously, that didn’t happen.

BG 87, Oakland 82.

Ayers dropped in 26 for the Falcons. Great road win.

I was pretty pessimistic. They fought and won. Very interesting personnel on this team that is getting more out of transfers than their previous teams were getting.

Our top 5 players all scored in double figures. If this team ran an offense, moved more on offense and was wiser about shot selection....talent wise it could develop into one of my favorite teams at BG in recent years. Elsasser was in the end of a big game when it was 74-74. I don't really understand our emphasis on recruiting 12 big men and playing 2. I like that we are playing 2. Its the smart thing to do. But we have 13 scholarships. A walk on should not be playing with 5 minutes left in a tied game. If he is your best option you messed up recruiting. Essentially we have 4 scholarships going to people who aren't playing for one reason or another.

Curtis...a really fun player. He can be the primary ball handler, can score in multiple ways including at the basket, can rebound, can distribute. His line tonight was 12 pts, 5rbs, 7assts, His shot selection at times is just baffling. But I want to say it's improving. I don't know if I believe that but if he falls into a player who doesn't force so many shots.

Ayers...speaking of forcing shots. 23 shots tonight. He did score 26. This was a hometown game for him. Again...if he cut down on the offense destroying early/bad shots he could be a baller. He can get his shot and score and rebound a little.

Agee...12 and 7 and banging in the paint frustrating the other team. Gotta love Agee. I wonder how frustrating it has to be for him to see a guard walk down the court and throw up a terrible 3. I know how frustrating that is for me and I am 42 and playing in pickup league at the Y.

Metheny...Played his role and played it very well. 15 pts on 5-9 from 3. NO assists but ran the offense well. No turnovers. Played second fiddle lots of times to Curtis as the primary guy but things ran well when they actually tried to run things that way. Having 2 pgs should not be a problem in an offense with guys like Ayers-Turner and Agee on the floor.

Turner...Proved me right for what I wrote after Air Force. Double Double. 16 pts, 10 rebounds. He doesn't stop moving and impacting the game. Definitely not a star but a great 4th/5th starter

Towns...This player didn't play for OU. He has 7 rebounds in each of his first two games when he barely got there at OU in 2 years. He is a solid rotational big backing up the 4 and 5. I don't think we would want him to start but could probably start at the 4 for a few fill in games.

Mills...I have no idea what he is. No points no other stats in 12 minutes. Let a ball go through his hands under the basket for an easy 2 at the end of the game.

Lightfoot...Rookies will Rookie. 4 fouls in 9 minutes. He still flashed the player he will become.

O'Neal...Started, got 3 rebounds....I missed the first part of the game and I am not sure I ever saw him again. Hugers rotations with him are perplexing.

Etim/Diarra...2 minutes each. Both got a rebound.

I like what the top 7-8 give us. Beyond that we are paper thin.

A fun thought. it would be interesting to see what would happen if this guy reached out and asked to join the squad in January
