Why not secure him with a lifetime contract? We don't want other schools to swoop in and steal him after tonight's huge win.

None of the only 3 scorers on eastern were on tonight. Figured with bates being sick Acuff and farrakhan would step up but neither were very involved. Acuff averages about 15 and didn't make a bucket until halfway through the second half
We would need a win AND a Miami loss against Buffalo.

We beat Ohio by 9 back in January (seems like a lifetime ago). Miami beat Buffalo by 11 earlier this year.

Feels very unlikely, but even if we do get to Cleveland, it’s just to be sacrificed to Toledo. Which would probably be even worse than missing the tournament, to be honest.

Yeah, the scary thing is if Huger can coach the team to two wins (OU and tSUN) it would earn him a FIVE year extension LOL

Watch us make it all the way to the tournament final game or make the NCAA tournament. What a weird place to be in.

No desire to see us go to Cleveland. End this asshattery and get the kids back to the study tables.

At least we didn't lose....EMU is worse than us. I'm also not crazy about us making the tourney....

I'm really really torn. On the one hand the one thing that can make me happy for this team this season would be to go to Cleveland and keep UT's MAC tournament streak alive by knocking them out.

On the other hand anything that helps make a case to keep wasting years with Huger here can be nothing but a net negative.

Let's all hope and pray in the name of Neil Diamond that the new AD will overlook some miraculous tourney run and look at the entire body of work and see that failure is the only consistent result. Holly Holy and Love on the Rocks, may Sweet Caroline be with you.

I really think it's going to be a money issue at the end of the day. If they have the money to fire him, he's gone (unless they do a crazy run to the NCAAT). If they don't, then it will be one more year of this.

If there are two realities

1. You dont have the money to fire him
2. Having him as your basketball coach is a bad idea

Can you pay him to do something else?

I have to believe if you fire him he gets an assistant job within the next two years and we don't pay that full 1 million. But what a gamble. He can just sit and do nothing.

It has been done in the past, albeit with a non-revenue sport coach.
