Someone needs to check the "facts". It wasn't Josh that broke the baackboard, it was Soler. Josh caused the delay during the game because won of the safety cables came loose on a dunk during the game, but Soler actually BROKE it in pregame..

A few weeks ago someone asked what ever happened to the old men's basketball banners from Anderson Arena. After today's backboard incident we have an answer to the question. Apparently they are being used as rags. When the board broke two of them were brought out to lay over the floor while the board was replaced. Then the broken glass was bundled up in the banners and they were put in trash bags to be taken out. Some respect, those could have been put up for auction at the Falcon Club event this spring and brought in some additional money for the department. Oh well, that would have been a useful thing to do.

I can't believe they would have missed the boat on auctioning those things off, especially with their recent ebay ventures. Either someone's getting canned over such an oversight, or those of you who really want a banner know who to ask... afterall, if they're going to be used for glass cleanup, they shouldn't ask for TOO high a price on them, right? :?

I was waiting for someone to mention this. Anyone happen to see which banner it was that the backboard got carried out in. It was the banner of our last NCAA birth. Hopefully this will be a good sign and not an omen. And yes it as Soler who broke the rim.

People are saying Almanson because that's what the Fox crew announced for the 30 seconds they were on the air.

They could have had the backboard fixed quicker if they had more than one set of tools. I was also nice to see campus police assisting with the repair. That's kind of a joke if we don't have the right number of personnel to fix a backboard and have to use the police. I think there will be some discussion Monday on how to handle this situation if it ever happens again.

We were there to watch the whole thing happen. It was SOLER and just a massive dunk. It seemed to take everybody a bit to figure out what to do.
I must say I thought of Grant when they brought out the old banners for glass duty. What the heck are they saving them for? They did look nasty.

But I appreciate the post that said the NCAA banner went out in the trash. I take that as a GOOD omen after what went on in the arena in the last two days.

The women over TU and the men over MIAMI. Man it is sweet.

On a humorous note, it could have been worse. Was anyone else at the hockey game in Columbus when not one, but TWO, panes of glass broke in the Schott? And not only that, but when it broke the first time, they couldn't find the right piece OR line the correct one up. Talk about a joke.

Its all about perspective, I guess.

Two of my friends went out to the dumpster a few minutes after they took the banners and glass out. They were going to remove the banners from the trash and keep them but they were not there. The must have hid the glass and the banners somewhere else. The backboard was laying on a banner out by the Fox Sports Ohio vehicle for awhile before the game. I don't know what happened with that though either. It's just really upsetting to see them using those like that. I would have offered my hooded sweatshirt to carry out the glass in place of one of those!!

And it was Soler who broke the backboard. I was watching it happen. He barely threw it down but just hit it at the right angle I guess. It was interesting to see everyone just looking around like what do we do now?!

Actually I grabbed it outside after the game, but you ain't kidding. I don't care what the box score said I thought Floyd SUCKED today. 2 TOs?! What did it take for them to credit it as a TO today?!

And if that boy takes another flop I think I'll be sick. The officials bailed him out by giving him the charge a number of times, but my god every turnover he induces with the charge he makes up for by the 2-3 times he's on his ass and his guy is unguarded.

I was shocked when I saw that he had 10 assists and 2 TOs cuz it sure seemed like he played like crap. They should call airballs when nobody is within 8 feet of you a turnover, but I guess they don't

I went to church early at 9 so I could be home by 11 for the game.

Dave Weekley comes on at noon from AA and says "We will have a slight delay because"...and goes in to it. I just laughed....not knowing the game wouldn't be shown. That sucked!

Nice of Fox to dump the game. That A-10 is so important to Ohio with TWO teams, Xavier and Dayton. Don't worry about the SIX MAC teams.

At 12:30, the scroll comes across they won't be showing the game.
Needless to say I was bummed.

Especially the way the game went and was won! Sounded like one heck of a game. The last score I saw scroll by was 52-46, Miami with about 5-6 minutes left. No chance to listen online cuz yesterday was my nephew's 2nd birthday and we went to his party. I saw the final on ESPN a few hours later.

Wow....win the next game and we'll have a chance to clinch the West....UNREAL!
