Yep, it's great that everyone gave it thier all, they left it on the floor, gave 110%, they were soldiers, warriors and a veritable pack of junkyard dogs. None of that means a damn thing when you can't put a LOUSY team away when you have a 10 point lead with 10 minutes to go on your own floor.

Hard work and effort are the minimum. When tournament time rolls around, you'd better be bringing a lot more than that.
Right on Flip. I was announcing a swim meet at the U of Akron for my sister yesterday from 2-6 so I didn't know the outcome til I got home. I almost puked when I saw the score. Yes it has been a good season but dammit, CMU??? At home??? With everything on the line this past week, BG could have been MAC Champs by beating WMU and CMU! Miami lost yesterday and finished 12-6. BG could have been 12-6 as well and owned the tie breaker over the Redhawks. How can you not get up and be ready to play with all this on the line???? I am so disappointed in these past 2 performances.

The new season starts tomorrow night. We BETTER be ready to play 40 minutes or more, if necessary. BG has made it to Cleveland every year the tourney has been at the Gund.

As usual, you guys make some great points.

A senior-led team like ours falling on its face so badly over the last two games is completely dumbfounding. And no, the Germain Fitch "distraction" doesn't explain it. I have no idea what does. It's actually quite weird. One gets the impression that the guys just want to hang it up, call it a season, and get back to their schoolwork. It's very hard to take BG seriously going into the tournament. Teams that are viable in the post-season don't do what we have done recently v. Michigan directionals.

I'll join the shocked crew. I was travelling back from overseas and there was no Falcon news anywhere about the CMU game. So I check the web on my cell phone as soon as we got to Detroit, and I was shocked, to say the least. Its a terribly disappointing loss, and makes the Gund road much tougher.

FF1, I worry about your comment that CMU was more athletic than us. We gotta get that fixed. Lots of teams were more athletic than we were this year.

We have a tough assignment tonight. Wasn't Ball State the game we essentially had handed to us a couple weeks ago? This team at least deserves a trip to the Gund.

And yes, I was one of those who saw single digit wins for this team, and the season has been much above what I expect. But you don't get to keep the old expectations once you prove you are capable of better.
