Larry Hughes committed to a contract with the Cavaliers. If the CBA were complete, he'd be signed, sealed, and delivered by tomorrow. It looks like Hughes, or any other NBA free agent, won't be signing their contracts until at least the middle of next week.Metz wrote:He just wants to be in the best situation for him. Is Larry Hughes gone for sure, too? If he isn't, Antonio will definitely be coming off the bench. But hey, he did that last year and had his best numbers yet.
Daniels a Wizard...
Good point Metz. I was just assuming that Daniels is going to start for the Wizards based on their projected roster. Larry Hughes is going to sign in Cleveland unless he pulls a Boozer on them, Steve Blake and Juan Dixon are free agents who may or may not be back, and the team spent their one second round pick on a 6'11" prep school kid from Connecticut. The only guards they have to speak of (even if they resign Blake and/or Dixon) are Daniels and Arenas who are both point guards. Either Washington is going to move one of them over to the two, or they are still looking to pick up a free agent shooting guard.Metz wrote: He's been quoted a hundred times saying starting is not that important. The mark of a true Falcon is shown in these words from today's Wizards presser:
Wizards Head Coach Eddie Jordan
On Antonio Daniels:
“Antonio has great quickness, size, and determination on defense. I spoke to most of his former coaches, and they all had great things to say about him, both on defense and offense. But probably the best evaluation was that all three of them said that they would like to have him as a son. That quality means more than anything else.”

Coming off the best season of his eight-year NBA career, Daniels agreed to a five-year contract worth around $30 million. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Daniels, who will wear No. 6, joins a reconstituted back court that includes all-star point guard Gilbert Arenas, swingman Jarvis Hayes and recent additions Chucky Atkins and Caron Butler.
