I am excited to see the hoops team but right now I am waaaaaaaaay too focused on football. I follow hoops and hockey at the start of the season but not nearly as much when football is still being played. Sorry, football is king for me....by a mile.

But I am interested to see what happens with the team this year.

......before our season-opener, and the hot topic on our board is Ron Lewis! Let's get fired up and talk about some BG hoops! We're about to start play in a tournament on Thursday and have three games in the event. Any word as to how Steven Wright is doing and if there's a chance he can play this week?

I for one can't wait for the season opener against the Catamounts. It'll be even better once i can watch when i come to BG next fall! But getting back to the point, i think we have a fair chance at winning the MAC this year; we came close last year but with these new guys coming in like Dusan Radivojevic and Matt Lefeld, we should be unnn-BG-lievable!

I am not down on the team or being negative, but given this teams circumstances, I would be happy with two division one wins going into the MAC season in January. Exactly HF, I believe OU played two freshman and a sophomore last year in their championship year. Let's not write off BG before the season even gets underway just because they are young. Dakich will have the team ready to play.

Even if they lose, these will be close games. I don't care how many freshmen we have, the only way to get used to basketball at this level is to play. With these first 3 tourney games, they are going to get some great experience. I have no doubt they will be ready by the time the tourney is over if they aren't when it starts.

I think you are not giving this group much credit at all. Just because we have quite a few freshman on this team doesn't mean that we are not going to win more than two DI games before conference. There have been other teams that have started and played quite a few underclassmen and been successful, so let's not be down on this group before the season starts. It's ridiculous to start out with a loser mentality before the boys get going. With that attitude, what would you think attendance would be like at home games? That's the kind of attitude that our fans are not supposed to have, and to have that attitude and little faith in our team is for somewhere else. I for one wish I could be there to see a game and watch our young talent develop. From the things that I have heard from you guys, this young group might just be something special. Let's give them a chance and see what happens.

Everyone thought 2 d1 wins was an insult to the team. I was not down on the team and was being realistic. A win at Troy monday will give us 2 d1 wins. If we dont win common sense would tell us i gave them too much credit when I said 2 d1 wins.
