If this university hired Bob Huggins as our head men's basketball coach, I would stop going to games. Period.

From March 31, 2005
(U-WIRE) CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati suspended assistant men's basketball coach Keith LeGree indefinitely last Thursday after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence Wednesday night.
The arrest comes less than a year after head coach Bob Huggins was charged with the same offense.
"Our image has taken yet another hit by the careless action of someone who, given the events of the past year, should have been very aware of the consequences," UC Athletics Director Bob Goin said in a statement issued by the university.

CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati Enquirer reports Donald Little, the former University of Cincinnati basketball center, is scheduled to go to trial today on felonious assault and kidnapping charges in connection with an April attack on his roommate. Authorities said Little, 23, had lost $2,500 and blamed Hodge.
According to Hodge's statements to police, Little hit him over the head with a whiskey bottle and punched and kicked him repeatedly. Then, police said, the basketball standout taped Hodge to a plastic lawn chair, threatened him with a knife and burned him repeatedly with a heated coat hanger.

His history isn't exactly flawless? And he is not even close to the only politician with a bad record.
How the hell did we get onto politics? What does one have to do with the other? What does voting for Bush (I didn't) have to do with the face I want put on this University?
Huggins is a clown that probably ran the dirtiest program in the country. I don't want him anywhere near BG. I'm not in favor of selling one's soul for a little limelight. Like I said before -- Dakich is not a saint, but he is a hell of a lot closer than Huggins.
A guarantee of a NC would not change my mind on this one.

Yeah that was probably a bad idea bringing in Bush. I was just trying to find a powerful figure that people likely had a stand for or against that had a checkered past. Please no one take this down the politics path that it might be sent. That was not my intention.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Germainfitch1 wrote:Did any of you Huggins haters vote for Bush?

I would not call a 3 year contract selling my soul. We could easily get Huggins in here for a few years and then hand the team off to Lamonta Stone and the nononsense style he learned under Dakich. (Half joke....)
Regardless of who took control of the team the year after he left we would be ina much mroe competitive position than we are now.

Here is pretty funny email that I got forwarded to me after the Huggins arrest. I don't think we would want our program having this kind of reputation:
The UC basketball motto: Lead by example
Officers found vomit on the side of Huggins car. However the evidence was thrown out after it was determined that it was left over from his review of the film of the Bearcats last NCAA tournament game.
Fortunately for Huggins, the UC cell was vacant that night so at least he was able to spend his time in comfortable surroundings.
When Huggins was brought to the jail, several UC players thought he was conducting a bed check.
Huggins faces a minimum 3-day jail sentence. The good news is that he can get in 2 shoot-arounds and 3 full squad practices.
Thankfully, due to his basketball background Huggins is not intimidated by the thought of showering with other men.
How many recruits will Huggins be able to pick up during his time in jail? Does it count as a home visit?
Does Huggins failing grade on the sobriety test count against his graduation rate?
You would think that he could have passed the sobriety test; It’s the same entrance exam that his players have to take to get into UC.
When asked to comment about the arrest, bearcats radio announcer Chuck Machock replied, that's the worst call I've ever seen!
Current and former bearcat players are banding together to help raise funds for his legal defense fund. Art Long suggested a "team pot sale" which is gaining a lot of support.
It didn't make it into the police report, but sources say that Huggins was overheard saying, I was just driving Larry Eustachy home.
The following statement was released by the Athletic department: "While we do not condone what Huggins did, at least he didn't tie someone to a chair and hit him over the head with a whiskey bottle, hurl a bottle at a women in a bar, push a pregnant women into a bath tub, shoplift, assault police officers, or punch a horse."
Huggins was asked to repeat the alphabet and did well until reaching the letter "m", later completely skipping the letters "x" and "u". Ironically, reaching the letter "m" is 4 letters further than any of his players have been able to reach.
The arresting officer was rather surprised when Huggins recited the Miranda phrase from memory. Huggins replied, No big deal. It’s on the cover of our team media guide.
Huggins reportedly spent the day "with recruits and drinking beer". Unfortunately the recruiting coordinator was attending a seminar at the University of Colorado and was unable to arrange for the strippers.
Huggins was stopped by police at 11:35 pm and said that he had last eaten at lunch. Given the recent photos of him, does anyone believe that this man could go 11 1/2 hours without eating?
Huggins is due in the Fairfax mayor's court at 6 pm. spectators have said that the courtroom is dingy, the seats are cramped and uncomfortable, and there's not a good view of the action- kind of like the Shoemaker Center.

We could not easily get Huggins in here for a bunch of reasons.
Reason 1: $$$$$
Reason 2: $$$$$
Reason 3: $$$$$
Reason 4: $$$$$
Reason 5: $$$$$
Huggins is not the answer. This university and it's athletic teams have based themselves on being a family environment. Huggins *does not fit that image.
*Understatement of the year
