I don't discredit the Zips. They definitely have a good team. I'm just sick of watching our lackadaisical play and sick of the refs preventing a basketball game. Incidental contact in basketball is not a foul...calling it kills the games.Falconfreak90 wrote:Metz, I thought Akron got away with a few too many fouls...I know they were physical but....
Give credit to the Zips....they are a solid team and are now 25-1 at home the last 2 years. I like their chances to win it all.

I agree and I completely understand what you're saying. After living out of state for years and even now, every game is a road trip of sorts for me, even when BG plays at home. Obviously, you can’t win them all, but it’s just been a frustrating season this year for me personally, first with the way our football season ended, and now with the way basketball is going. The last four games I’ve made trips to see BG play (@ Akron, A Toledo, Ohio, Akron), we’ve lost them all and two of them were at home in OT (Akron and Ohio) and one we let get away at the end (UT). Growing pains, inexperience, lack of depth, poor play, bad coaching, bad officiating, whatever you want to call it, it’s been hard and tough to watch.Metz wrote:All I'm going to say is that I was sickened to make a 2 hour trip to watch that game. We have the potential to play at a higher level and we just die after awhile. It's hard to watch.
I'm sick of MAC officiating. I don't care about fouls called on us, I'm talking both ways. I can't tolerate it anymore.
As for the officiating, this has always been my pet peeve with basketball. I know officials and referees always seem to get a bad rap, but they frustrate me the most in basketball over any other sport without a doubt. And I’m not even saying calls against BG, I’m saying overall. It’s like every game, they’ve got to become a factor and they can’t let guys just play. You can go 10 or 12 trips down the floor and sometimes have not one of them stopped because of a call. If it’s a foul, then call it. If it wasn’t a foul, then swallow the whistle and let them play. I could go on and on about this topic, just like the rest of you. As for our fouls, yeah, some of them are because of bad officiating, but we also do a lot of reaching, grabbing, moving screens, etc. We certainly aren’t helping our case any either.
GO BG!!!
