If that happens, you'll have to check the weather in hell, because it might have frozen over.

ok, i know that you are a pessimist but you just went to far, you are now close to ohiobobcats level. just because you cant be here to witness a weekend sweep doesnt mean you need to say tht crap...i mean our guys team is playing wright state...WRIGHT STATE...no way we should loose! and if we get good crowds for the hockey games, we'll sweep notre dame...its just too bad that you wont be here to witness it.
Sorry if I get off basketball here, but what has the hockey team done since their 5-2 win over scUM back on January 21? Nothing. Two losses to Lake Superior, a narrow win over lowly RIT where if it wasn't for Horrell's brilliance we would have lost, and then two losses to a mediocre Fairbanks team. Besides, Norte Dame already beat us twice this year, what makes you think that we can beat them now, when we are slumping?

Yes, the men's basketball team should beat Wright State. But do I expect that to happen? No. I can't ever expect the men's b-ball team to win because a. they seldom do, and b. unless they are up huge going into the final 4 minutes they'll blow it.

Gosh, I can't believe how negative that post was, but that pretty much sums up how those two teams are doing right now. Thank goodness for the ladies.
Jesus... lay off. Yeah, the hockey team has been struggling, but where do you get off being so damn pessimistic all the time? What makes us think we can win? -loyalty, faith, hope, optimism, school pride, support for our team, faith in our coaches?
What are you?

You are correct. It is getting ri-freaking-diculous. If it was only a one or two or three year thing I could accept it. Down years are part of every program (for the most part). But the fact that they have had two good teams in the last 7 years is unacceptable. Don't feed me this crap about "well, they have made it to Cleveland, blah, blah, blah." I would like to see a team with a legit shot at winning the MAC tournament, not just making it to the quarterfinals. I'm tired of fans just accepting it and living in dreamland. Don't even question whether or not I am a true fan. I will always support BG, regardless of who is the coach, however, I am not just going sit here and act like nothing is wrong.

I think you took this the wrong way, I'm not criticising the team, I'm criticising all of these people who think it is more productive to come on here and mock our own players and teams than to go out and support them. I'm getting pretty damn tired of it.

Gotcha. True fans are the ones that care about the team and really want to see them succeed.

I've missed two home games this year. I think I missed 2 or 3 last year. I might've missed a couple the year before. In that time I've also made quite a few road trips to UT, Akron, and EMU just to name a few.

Supporting them hasn't seemed to help much, so maybe it's time that something gets changed. I don't think anybody is mocking the players or team. Those of us that have been actively supporting this team for the past few years are just starting to get kind of tired of always losing, that is all.

I agree. We all have our opinions but it seems lately the "fair-weather support/hard-times negativity" has been on overload.

It's easy when things are going well....and frustrating when they're not. I'll still be in the stands no matter what.

Exactly. I think the "true fans" are the ones that show emotion about their team, good and bad. It's not being "fairweathered." I think of a fairweather fan as someone who likes the team when the going is great, then disappears when the team is crap, not really caring anymore. We really care about the program. I think we are more "true" than ones who don't seem to care that the direction of the program is headed way south or are just apathetic during these "lean" years. That's just my point of view. I'll shut up about it now.

And if BG does not beat Wright State tomorrow at home, the same Wright State that just lost to Cleveland State, then things are ALOT worse than what we think they are. Everyone should be in agreement with that!

I've always found these "true fan" discussions to be pointless and idiotic. Sportstalk at its worst.

I think some of these guys are Toledo/OU fans pretending to be BG fans. Some of you are unbelievable give me a break. A lot of people on here aren't happy unless they are trashing the program. I can understand being disappointed but geez some of you go overboard.

Well, that's what you get when people voice their opinion and other people blast them for it.

There is a big difference between voicing an opinion and being negative. On the same topic. Over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. A big difference.

Well, I guess that's your opinion. But, please tell me what is so positive to talk about in terms of the men's basketball program right now? I would love to hear it. There is a big difference between being positive and delusional.

A big difference.

And I apologize for being so "negative." Next time I'll just be like many of the people in here and act like nothing is wrong. I guess it's speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil. Good little sheep you are....

There is quite a bit positive going on - It is simply a matter of whether or not you choose to recognize it.

The problem with all of this garbage being spewn about of late is that it all has to do with what takes place bewteen the lines. This is not a professional sport, and there is much more to college basketball than the box score and win loss record. Yeah, I know, you don't give a sh*t, but a lot of us around here do, a lot of us are proud of what is taking place (and not taking place) off the court and in the classroom, and a lot of us are getting sick and tired of people like you coming in here and cheapening the experience of being a fan of Bowling Green State University Athletics by forgetting an entire half of the equation.

And don't call me a sheep. Your mental maturity is quite evident.

So it has gotten to the point where the best way to defend the staff is to talk about academics? I'm sorry, but that's a pretty good sign that we have major problems if you ask me. Believe it or not there are plenty of coaches out there who can have their teams excel in both aspects of collegiate athletics.

I refuse to accept mediocrity (or worse) on the court/field simply because they "graduate their players." As I mentioned in an earlier thread, our graduation rates are going to start going to hell real soon as well. These transfers all count against our graduation rates, don't forget.

I am so done with this sh*t. Hammb, with all due respect, this isn't an either or argument. Yes, the transfers will hurt us, but there have not been that many of them, and they are not likely to continue.

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, this stuff has gotten out of hand. But continue calling me names if you must...
