There are no more Anderson Animals. They are dead. Just because someone who never attended this university (falconboy) and an alumnus and future BGSU bus driver (Burtch) wear their shirts, it doesn't mean the group is still there.
And since we are talking about men's games that means there is only one of those shirts at the games

And......if I had an old college ID that still worked (Burtch's does) in getting me in free I probably be there a few times too. Financial reasons has made me choose which BB team I rather see every game. Had to prioritize. Since I most certainly could not afford to do season tix for both , it would have to be one or the other. So it was either spend nearly $100 on season tix for a team that will not make the Mac championsip game in Cleveland or pay only $45 to see a 5-year dynasty program that will get to the championship and will likely win it and get a bid to the NCAA Tourney and who has been much more exciting to watch for past 5 years. Yeah, I know tough , tough choice there.

As the years went on the group devolved into a bunch of kids that thought matching t-shirts meant they could come in right before tip and get the front row seats that others had gotten there an hour early to reserve. The same goes for the old kegs 'n' eggs crew that would just show up plastered and then leave at halftime to go drink more beer...they too would show up right before tip and assume their "earned" spot in the front row.

Bottom line is you cannot fake this sort of group support. When the team starts winning kids will come to games. They'll start having fun and telling their friends, and more people will start coming to the games. Then the student section will be rowdy again.

Everything comes from winning. This program does not have the tradition required to earn consistent support through mediocre or worse stretches of on court results. Yeah, I think it sucks that's the case, I'm there quite often regardless of how good we are, but it's also the truth. When we win we get attendance (students, alumni, townies); when we're not winning we don't get attendance. It's a really simple equation, actually. Marketing can try to dream up all they want, but until they figure out the formula for consistently winning they're wasting their time.
OU has a record south of 500, and drawing 2nd highest in the MAC with UNBELIEVABLE student support. Even in Cleveland they get a great student showing no matter what seed they are... so what I'm saying is it can be done as long as your team is at least competitive in-conference.

Hopefully BG stays hot for a couple more games.. and word somehow gets around campus that this is occuring, and we will be able to test that theory and see how it plays out. You know I'll keep doing my part

BG is not OU. OU has always had good fan support for basketball even through lean times. BG has proven that they don't get that same support unless they are a winning program. Heck even in our winning years we'll only bring in 3000-4000 fans a game. Like it or not this is not a huge basketball town.

I have long ago come to the realization that the BG hoops die hards are few and far between, but that's who we are. Honestly we have 2 decades of alumni who weren't ALIVE the last time we made the NCAA tourney. How can you expect us to have fan following that is sustained through our down years?

Just win. If we win fans will come, if we don't they will not. That is the mantra for BG hoops, and it likely always will be.

Maybe they should cut basketball to bolster hockey!

I'm going to laugh at you when the men take home the MAC tourney title. Like the OU game...you heard it here first.

Cool. Now that I know how it will end, I don't have to listen or watch any more games this season. Thanks for saving me the time.

If BG's men's team does make the conference championship, this year, or any other year, I kindly ask you blow it out your ass and not jump back on the bandwagon then.

Is Wrigley field a piece of junk... it has many of the same issues that AA has had and continues to have.

Yeah, and that's about the ONLY thing those two venues have in common.

If the place was packed full of people... it would be called...

Classic
A harken back to the old days
Has Character
Historic
Colorful

When the building is empty its called a dump.
