We would also be talking about the NCAA Tournament team. Those of us that are younger can't even begin to imagine how much it would mean to this board's administrator, and many of the other Falcon fans who have supported this program for decades without seeing a tournament appearance. I've heard it spoken of, and I want it so badly for all of them. 1968. Think about how long ago that was.

- Lyndon Baines Johnson was still president

- Gas cost 37 cents/gallon

- Hank Aaron hit his 500th home run

- The Big Mac was first sold

- '60 Minutes' hit the air for the first time, when Andy Rooney was only EIGHTY FIVE YEARS OLD!

- Hippies were still rioting in Chicago at political conventions

That was a long time ago!

It would be even better this year because, even though hope springs eternal, I don't think anyone would have expected this program - in only Orr's second year at the helm - to even be close to being in this position.

I don't care if we get seeded #65 and have to play the stupid play-in game, I want to see the Falcons in the NCAA tourney. I want to fill out a bracket that has Bowling Freaking Green on it. I couldn't care less about seeding or our chances for advancement at this point.

Of course we're still looking too far ahead. We need to take care of business and grab the #1 seed in the MAC. That would be a huge advantage going forward. Then let's get down to playing some hoops in Cleveland.

All I know is Orr is doing a fantastic job to put us in this position. The guys are playing their guts out and they're getting wins with 2 of our top 7 rotation out. Here's hoping they can keep it up!

to go along with what my fellow Cubs fan had said earlier about why we will not be in a 16 seed, We'd win the MAC tourny and that would put us at something like 22-11 or around then, no way they put us a 16 seed then, our record presently isn't that impressive. Of course you all know know Lunardi doesn't research the mid majors for who he thinks will be in, he just picks whoever is leading the conference, he doesn't care at all about us or The Big South (GO Liberty, but I think VMI wins the tourny).
But I would personally love for BG to be in the Boro as well, I'd love to see us as a 16 beats those dbags at carolina, nothing would make me happier, but if we are a 14 seed an have to beat Duke/Wake, I guess I could deal with that..

Otis Polk would somehow pick up a foul three minutes before the game by simply entering a 10-foot radius of Hasheem Thabeet.

It was also the year before the NFL's greatest coach turned around what was to become the NFL's greatest franchise. Cleveland's own The Emperor Chuck Noll. :D

I know they are the number one seed, and havethe best inside game in the conferece, but they jsut lost to LLiberty who is without Jesse Sanders which is a huge loss. I guess they just aren't as flashy to me as Liberty and VMI, but I know that isn't what wins games. I sitll like VMI to win the tourny.

Yeah, VMI has a crazy good offense when they're hitting. Their defense is another story... I have a couple of friends who are '06 alums of Radford and VMI, though I can't say I follow the conference too closely. Being a military school, my friend who went to VMI was required to attend every home game. That's one way to boost attendence!

And Boy were we ticked about those gas prices!

Oh, and hippies didn't EVER riot. Hippies were peaceful- Yippies rioted- along with good, old fashioned thugs who would have been soccer hooligans in another life. Or UT/BG football players. ;-)

Because Liberty is an evangelical Christian university created by the late Jerry Falwell. They also call their students "Champions for Christ"

and the NCAA tournament only invited conference champions before 1975. In 1968 I believe only 24 teams made the tournament.

So, to highlight how far we've fallen, we made the NCAAs an impressive four times when the number of teams varied between 16 and 24, and have made it no times since the field was expanded from 24, 32, 48, 64, to 65.
