Actually, it has been a VERY long time since I've seen a BG guard with Clarke's ability to streak to the basket. Marcus Newburn used to do it with his giant first step. Brian Miller was an uber-penetrator deluxe during his Jr and Sr years. Derrall McLane could do it, but he was with us only for '89. Clarke may just very well be the freak we've all been waiting for! :)

My suspicion is the Orr wanted to give Clarke more time to practice protecting the basketball in the half-court versus D1 defenders before playing him regularly. Confidence preservation.

Not sure I am on board with the last part considering he played him the most against the best team of the year. Seems like he could have eased him in against Malone.
