Re: Streaming issues?
71-58 good guys. BG travels to EMU Sat and the game is on STO, 6PM. GO FALCONS!! 9-10, 3-3 MAC. Would be great to string some wins together instead of this "win one, lose one" stuff.

Because there are only 200 minutes available in a basketball game. The starting guards played a combined 70, went 9-of-18 from the field, with 9 assists, and 26 points tonight. Clarke struggled earlier this month and has obviously fallen behind Chauncey Orr and James Erger in the roatation. Louis Orr addressed bench time during his press conference this week, at about the 4 minute mark.Globetrotter wrote:So have they addressed why clarke is not playing?

Re: Streaming issues?
Louis Orr is completely clueless when it comes to rotations and how he divvies up playing time. That's the answer to the Clarke question and the answer to so many other questions.AyZiggy97 wrote:Because there are only 200 minutes available in a basketball game. The man's rotations have NEVER made sense, and they likely never will. And anybody that thinks James Erger deserves a uniform, let alone playing time, is completely clueless. The rotations are just mind boggling. Henderson was the first guard off the bench tonight. WHY? He has barely played all year and tonight he's the first guard off the bench? Clarke has played well in stretches and doesn't play until the game is essentially over? James Erger is still allowed to play?
From game to game the rotations have NEVER made sense. They're different every game and they never seem to have any correlation with who has been playing better.
All I know is that this was one of the ugliest 13 point victories I've ever had the displeasure of watching. The entire game was a suckfest and we just happened to be not quite as terrible as what looked like a god awful CMU team. And after watching that shitty ass product on the court, coupled with an event staff girl going out of her way to kick people out of a section that had probably 80% empty seats...it's really no wonder our attendance blows.

This is what we are reduced to: the team shoots 51%, gets assists on 58% of its baskets, makes 85% of its free throws, scores 71 points, and holds the opposition to 36% shooting and it's a 'shitty ass product.' The vitriol post-by-post here is unfathomable. If only Jehvon Clarke had played more...
Re: Streaming issues?
Did you watch the game!? It was boring, sloppy ass basketball by BOTH teams. The stats made it look a helluva lot better than it was.AyZiggy97 wrote:hammb wrote:Louis Orr is completely clueless when it comes to rotations and how he divvies up playing time. And I wasn't alone in feeling this way. I noticed when I returned from the restroom that there were about as many people playing on their cell phones as were actually paying attention to the game. Hell during one of the timeouts they were showing crowd shots and this one guy was asleep until his wife elbowed him in the ribs and he looked around like he didn't know where he was.
Yeah, one thing made me happy tonight...we won. But the game was still sloppy sloppy basketball. And whoever was the score keeper that only tabbed BG with 11 turnovers must not have been watching the game either.
Re: Streaming issues?
And we didn't "HOLD" anybody to 36% shooting. CMU had TONS of open shots all game long and they couldn't shoot to save their lives in the first half. They shot less than 25% on open jumpers and layups in the first half.
Statistically our defense looked great, but in actuality CMU got the shots they wanted all night long...they just couldn't make them.
I've seen a lot of BG basketball over the years and tonight's game was crappy and I really don't care what the stats say.

Re: Streaming issues?
And I thought they played pretty well on Saturday in the loss. But people were all worked up about that one. It was exciting with clutch shooting on both sides. Damned it they do, damned if they don't.
I'm agnostic about the fate of Louis Orr as BG's coach. But to discredit victories is astounding.

Re: Streaming issues?
I don't think he's discrediting the victory. He's just saying what the team played like; like s**t. We have a head coach that has been given years to put a successful product on the floor and he can't. I hated this hire when it happened; I hate it even more now. He's not a good coach folks and his teams show it. Get rid of him already! And everyone needs to wake up and stop seeing the glass half full. Its been half full for 5 years now! Stop accepting mediocrity from our program and being content with it, only to rely on your trusty "next year" slogans, because this is next year. Im so sick of this program. Theirs my mid season rant. Ill be back at the end of the year when I again, for the 4th straight year, call for the removal of this head coach after we finish another disappointing season.
Re: Streaming issues?
.......and while we are at it, how about getting rid of the guy that hired him?
Re: Streaming issues?
I'm thrilled we won. We pretty much led the entire way and I don't think it was ever closer than 8 or 9 points in the 2nd half. It is nice to finally have an "easy" win. But I'm only discrediting it in that I didn't think we played well so much as CMU played horrid. Now I'm glad that we played a team that was struggling and we managed to beat the crap out of them like we should.AyZiggy97 wrote:And I thought they played pretty well on Saturday in the loss. My only point was that I still didn't think we played that well (I missed Saturday's game, unfortunately), and that the game was a sloppy snoozefest.
As for my comments on the rotations, I've been saying that about Orr since the beginning, even the year we won the MAC. His rotations have never made sense to me. Guys go from playing lots of minutes off the bench to not playing at all. Guys like Henderson barely ever play and then is the first guard off the bench (although he still didn't play much)? I dunno it's just weird.
My personal opinion on Orr has always been that he deserved this team to have a chance to show what he could do. It's all his guys. He's got 2 seniors starting and playing major minutes. Followed by a couple Juniors and another Senior off the bench. It's a veteran team with some youth sprinkled in...this SHOULD be his year to compete for a MAC title, and still we're a middling team. I am really worried that this is his ceiling as a coach.
Personally, I'm not a fan of long term mediocrity.
Re: Streaming issues?
BG won by 13, a well coached team would have won by 25 minimum. Central was terrible going on pathetic. Offense for defensive substitutions with 4 minutes to go up 18 showed me that Orr is completely lost as a head coach, and doesn't have much else around him on that bench. I'll let everyone else get excited when BG beats a horrendous team at home by 13. They have enough talent on this team to win 20 games this season. They are 9-10. 9-10 with 3 seniors. We don't play consistent from possession to possession, let alone game to game. Last night was the most frustrating easy win I have ever watched. It summed up the mediocre program we are.

Re: Streaming issues?
What is it that you are seeing at practices that all four members of the coaching staff are missing?

Re: Streaming issues?
I wouldn't want to watch those practices. The games can be difficult enough at times even with the nice beer selection.

BG led 69-49 with 2:09 left. Then this series of events:
01:48 BGSU SUB IN by CLARKE,JEHVON
01:48 BGSU SUB OUT by BROWN,DEE
01:43 BGSU SUB IN by SEALEY,CRAIG
01:43 BGSU SUB IN by ORR,CHAUNCEY
01:43 BGSU SUB OUT by THOMAS,SCOTT
01:43 BGSU SUB OUT by CALHOUN,A'USTON
And the final margin was 13.
