Yes, the team and coaches do deserve better. I'm sure behind closed doors the brass is also displaying concern sprinkled with limited amounts of optimism.
It was not so evident to me until I watched the BG Rocket game Saturday after visiting the Stroh on Wednesday vs. EMU. It was sad to realize just how sad our fan situation has spiraled downward since jim L and DD one. All those 900-1200 fans and the 50 or so students sitting in their new Stroh with several empty seats to their left and right; Toledo on the other hand looked like a Big Ten atmosphere.
But alas the hockey program has risen from the ashes and is in the top ten with fans frozen to their seats happy as ever. Winning changes everything.

....and if the Toledo game would have been in BG on a Saturday night, it would also have been a full house or close also. I do think that evening classes for weekday games have a MAJOR impact on student attendance, but their is no excuse for the Saturday/Sunday games.

Baloney! They can hop on shuttle busses that will get them to the Stroh Center.

And how come they show up at the Ice Arena? Is it really that much closer to the residence halls (other than Kreischer)?

Some of the old-timers on this board can regale us with their tales of having to walk to class with a 100 mph wind blowing in their face as they walked up hill in three feet of snow, temperature below zero, and class was never cancelled.

Right, they can get on the bus and ride over. But apparently there is not enough incentive for them to want to.

Darn right. That whole Twitter movement the students did to get classes cancelled last year during a snowy day was the ne plus ultra of undergraduate laziness and a disgrace to anyone and everyone associated with the university. What does it say that the only thing that inspires the majority of the young these days is the chance to avoid knowledge and learning.

Now get off my lawn! :-)

Complain about how much college costs and then campaign for the university to cancel classes.

What? Did you really think the university was going to give you a refund for the classes that were cancelled? ](*,)

I won't be shocked if that's the next step...

Nice job, 84. It won't happen overnight but winning will bring the crowds back. As much as I love BG, the athletics, community and university, I hate to say we have our fair share of bandwagon fans. I wish it weren't so but winning usually equals BiG crowds.
