Here's more food for thought: What will be the average processing time to buy a ticket at the Stroh? Maybe they'll get it to under 10 minutes. This good is must-have info...if the schedule says 7pm, and it takes 30 minutes to drive, they you want to leave by 6:15pm.

Never use a large word when a diminutive one will suffice.

It's funny how sometimes an unremarkable topic grow into a long thread full of impertinent posts running along multifarious, inter-related subject lines. This thread is beginning to resemble a fractal.

it appears this thread is now turning into a fine illustration of the edification provided at BGSU, particularly around vocabulary skills.

Yeah, I'm sure they are since they know who they're playing:

A short informative article in mid-May about basketball scheduling? I mean, who has ever heard of such a ridiculous thing???

It is a bit crazy that they year in and year out do not make it public until late summer who they are playing in the non-conference for the upcoming season. Every year we have to renew our season tickets without even the slightest idea of who might be coming in to play. Not that it is ruining my summer, but it just would be nice to know who they were playing.

I don't disagree with you at all; it would be nice to know if we're playing Urbana, Michigan State, or something in between. But, if I'm not mistaken, the coaches do most, if not all of, the non-conference scheduling themselves. In each of the last two summers, obviously, we've had entirely new coaching staffs, with a lot on their plate. For all I know, they might still be finalizing the non-conf schedule for the coming year.

Or, maybe I am totally wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

Precisely threest. This staff has been busy: 1. putting itself together 2. recrecruiting players 3. recruiting players for 2015-16 4. recruiting players for 2016-17 5. working in ways allowable w our current team 6. getting on the road for fans and connecting w alums including BG ball alums at Stroh and on road 7. putting systems and plans in place for all phases 8. learning about BGSU as an institution 9. finding places to sleep 10. recruiting players for 2017-18 and finally 11. getting a non conference schedule set.

As correctly stated somewhere, this sport is staff scheduled basically. So staff assigned to do so are putting together the non conference season.

Info about noncon games can come from other schools as things are set etc, but it would stand to reason that this staff (and perhaps UB) in the MAC would be well behind the normal time frames for this part of the job.

They are working on it. But the other things came first.

Go Falcons!

No doubt. I am glad that it is the last thing on their mind. My point was speaking more toward it happened in the Louis Orr years and it just seemed odd. Like I said I am glad they are working on the more important things. Just hoping that it will get on track and in the future announcements would be made as soon as possible. Honestly, I hope they schedule some opponents they feel can allow them to find confidence with the new system because who am I kidding, I'm going to be there whether they play Michigan State, a directional Michigan school, or some Tech college. Go Falcons.

In the first bit of actual news on this topic . . . Florida Gulf Coast announced BG as the final team in their Thanksgiving holiday tournament.

Good move for Coach Huger considering the competition isn't steep and the amount of Florida offers

FGCU's AD is Ken Kavanagh, who was an Associate AD at BG from 1987-96. Could be a little Huger-Kavanagh connection in BG playing in this tournament.
