My final reason is based upon how I try to live my life and how I'd like to have things I associate myself with run...

The Essence of Destiny

Watch your thoughts, for they become your words,
Watch your words, for they become your actions,
Watch your actions, for they become your habits,
Watch your habits, for they become your character,
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny!!

I can't vouch for Bob Huggins' thoughts... but the rest of those are pretty well documented. I don't want the BGSU Men's Basketball Program's destiny to rely upon the thoughts, words, actions, habits and CHARACTER of Bob Huggins.

Huggins is not the answer. This university and it's athletic teams have based themselves on being a family environment. Huggins *does not fit that image.

*Understatement of the year
I agree with you on the money issue. I meant we could easily pass him on after a few seasons if we got him in here. I was trying to say he wouldnt be a stain on the university.

If he goes to Kent or OU and they dominate the league for ten years and go to the NCAA tournament a few times, while we are a revolving door for average college basketball players and a middle of the road MAC team how will you feel then?

I would love to go to the NCAA tournament every season and be the top team in the MAC but at what price? Being looked at like a dirty program and having our coach/players on ESPN every day not because of our talent but because they were arrested?

Krebs and Ribeau are a lot smarter than that there is no way they would hire a coach like Huggins.

I find it hard to beleive that if a University boasts the reputation that many of you are trying to boast in her, one man, over a 3 year span can bring that reputation down.

It could work if Bowling Green were in the babysitting business. If we hired a group of babysitters to watch the actions of our players and coaches 24 hrs. a day to make sure there aren't recruiting violations, DUIs, students on campus being tied up then maybe it would work. But it doesn't seem realistic to pile that many resources for a coaching hire.

I'm certain if you ask JD Campbell even the thought of having Huggins come here would be a nightmare for him..

You don't get it do you? You don't understand that this school, this basketball program, this institution means more to me (and many others) than wins and losses... Until you get that, there's no point in arguing this with us because your vision of this school and our vision of this school are not the same. We'd be comparing apples to oranges.

Do I want to win? Sure... Do I want us to win at any cost, even if it means compromising our principals? Never.

I don't want Bob Huggins as our coach, but would enjoy an evening a revelry with him. Party on, Garth.

Each player is a STUDENT-athlete. The number one goal of the university is for them to get a degree. Huggins doesn't believe in that.

If 12 students don't graduate out of 20,000 but those 12 students bring in a ton of revenue and notoriety to the school, is that a bad thing?

I would bet that 12 students on my floor freshman year didnt graduate.

Don't get me wrong, I think that those athletes should take advantage of their chance to receive an education for free and graduate. But I think graduate rates are skewed when you look at the fact that most if not all of his athletes went on to play pro basketball somwehere. Be it Italy, Spain or Denver.
