This is a good post, and funny, too.hammb wrote:The Center for Oakland was a tub of goo. Might be the slowest, most unathletic center that LeFeld matches up against all season. In the first half LeFeld lit him up, but he was struggling defensively. In the 2nd half they brought doubles and Matt looked lost trying to pass out of the double.
Our PG play was awful. Floyd had 4 TOs!?!? I can sit here and describe 5 of them to ya. I don't know if its his mom or what that does our scorekeeping but I thought all last year they were generous to him, and it seems they still are. Moon was even worse. We have 2 PGs who cannot see the court. I swear when Floyd has the ball in his head he's thinking, "What's the dumbest thing I can possibly do, but would look really cool on the off chance I pull it off". He should NOT be taking very many shots, but like last year he somehow does. Moon knows he cannot score and doesn't take many shots, I can deal with that...Floyd is a terrible shooter, and he's 2nd only to Semarco (who has never seen a shot he didn't like) in attempts!? How the hell do you justify a guy who shot like 27% from 3 last year shooting 7 three balls last night!? SEVEN! And I know for a fact that a couple of them were from like NBA range. The guy put up a typical, for him, 33% shooting percentage, but gets 12 attempts...UGH.
Semarco looks good. The kid shoots the ball constantly, but I'm not so sure that's a bad thing with this group. They need someone to step up and not be afraid to take a shot. He's got a pretty good shot as well, so keep on firing Martin! He got after it on defense a bit too. Box score credited him with 3 steals, but he deflected quite a few balls beyond that as well.
Marschall looked good last night too. He gave us some good minutes, and showed some agression going towards the hoop as well. He's undersized down low and that's apparent when it comes to rebounding, but he's got heart and I thought he played a pretty decent game last night.
Mawel was Mawel. Decent defender and tough as nails going for rebounds. Deep in his heart I don't think he's convinced the ball can fit through the rim thoughGood, tough player, but not gonna score for ya...still like him though.
Seemed like Clements took a lot of shots with not a lot to show for 'em, and the box score shows he was 3-10. Not sure what to make of him, definitely looks long and athletic. We have a shortage of D1 caliber athletes, so I'll be anxiously awaiting his development.
Dusan didn't do much last night. I'm sure he's still not really ready to play up to his actual level. I'll be anxious to see if he can develop into the John Reimold type shooter that we can count on late in games.
In the end the group looked pretty much how I'd expect them to...inconsistent. They played pretty well in the first half, despite a ton of turnovers. In the second half the turnovers continued, but we didn't make any shots. We settled for 3's a LOT in the 2nd half, because they were bringing the double to LeFeld and couldn't work anything out of it. Any time you have John Floyd putting up 12 shots you're not in real good shape. It'll be interesting to see where Wright plays with this group. He's a natural wing, and not a real good PG, but he's better than the 2 hacks we've got manning that spot right now.
The one disappointment, as I said to Grant late, is that we really aren't THAT young. Certainly no younger than Oakland last night. Sure we've got a lot of new faces, but when you look at who really played last night LeFeld, Floyd, and Semarco are all Juniors. Mawel is a senior. Of that group Mawel is a rebounder and that's about it, Floyd should never leave his seat, LeFeld looks okay but not special, and Semarco is our one consistent scoring threat. We're gonna need Wright back and these Freshmen to step up, because our vets are as bad as we all thought they were gonna be.

I think Oakland just decided they needed to step it up when their fans got there...you know, the ones warthog alluded too...and I guess are players were totally caught off guard...I wish some of our students would show support like that, if u know what I mean...
and about the point guard play, how much longer till that kid in the golden state shorts from halftime becomes eligible? that black kid didn't look to bad either...

Here's another sad part about that. Those girls came and half time and sit in the front three rows right next to the BCSN broadcasters. Why are these primo seats in the student section even available for anyone to seat in, much less, fans of the opponent?BGSUVA wrote:I think Oakland just decided they needed to step it up when their fans got there...you know, the ones warthog alluded too...and I guess are players were totally caught off guard...I wish some of our students would show support like that, if u know what I mean...

Wow...just WOW.
We pretty much got drilled after the whores showed up...
Heres my starting Five for the bg falcons
I would go:
pg: wright
sg: samarco
sf: moten
pf: Marschall
C: lefeld
6th men: soler and floyd
I know people are gonna say this lineup wont happen, but here me out. The reason i dont like floyd as a starter is because of his quickness. He doesnt have the speed or quickness to keep up with good college point guards. It hurts him on defense because he cant lock anybody up or get steals and it hurts him on offense because he can breakdown the defense with the drive. We need someone to breakdown a defense with the drive, like ron lewis and keith McLeod and brandon pardon did. One thing floyd does have going for him is his leadership abilities, but thats it. Moon turns the ball over to much, so enough said there. Now Soler is a solid defender and rebounder, but he hes like erick crawford 2, he has no jumpshot at all, the only way he scores is being around the basket. Now starting lineup i have selected, it has two proven scorers and defenders in samarco and wright and a potential offensive star in moten, take a look at moten's summary:
6-4 Bryan Moten - Cincinnati-Christian Center Academy (prep school), OH - formerly of Saginaw, MI
* also recruited by: Virginia, Baylor, UNLV, Auburn, Florida State, Bowling Green and Kansas State. Previously verballed to WMU, went to prep school, verballed to Virginia in the winter then committed to BG this summer.
* Averaged 28 points, five rebounds and four assists as a senior at Arthur Hills High School in Saginaw
* Vince Baldwin of PrepSpotlight.com ranked Bryan the # 5 wing guard in Michigan's class of 2004
* “He is one of the best pure shooters that I have ever seen. He has tremendous range on his shot and can just flat out shoot the ball,” said Cincinnati Christian coach Travis McAvene. “He’s also very good off the dribble and that combined with his shooting is I think what makes him so attractive to the college coaches.”
* WMU head coach Steve Hawkins had this to say about Moten in May of 2004 after he initially committed to the Broncos, “Bryan can really shot it. He’s got unlimited range. Another good athlete with good size at the guard spot. He can get to the basket and has a very quick release, comes off the screens well. He will be a real three-point threat for us. We felt like when we got a commitment from him last year that we got a steal. As he went throughout this year it became evident that we were right. He’s very capable of playing well and having a great career here.”
* Stephen Bell of MichiganPreps.com says this about Bryan, "Moten is a smooth scoring guard who gets great elevation on his shot and loves to pull up in the lane."

2. Joe Crawford, Detroit Renaissance, Kentucky
3. Malik Hairston, Detroit Renaissance, Oregon
4. Marquise Gray, Flint Beecher, Michigan State
5. Al Horford, Grand Ledge, Florida
6. Brian Moten, Saginaw Arthur Hill, Bowling Green Falcons!!!!
7. Ron Coleman, Romulus, Michigan
8. Goran Suton, Lansing Everett, Michigan State
9. Darryl Garrett, Detroit Denby, Junior College
10. Dan Waterstradt, Rutgers
This moten guy could be a major player for us. He has offensive talent and we could be good with a wright, samarco, moten trio. As for the posts players i have marschall and lefeld becasue they have the best size available on our team, for next year, i like sullivan at the starting PF spot.
Well all i can do now is wait and hope that we continue to improve with what we have, but i wouldnt mind see the starting five that i have talked about in this post.

Its was very sad to see the Oakland cheerleaders being louder than our own crowd it was pathatic. Yes, the girls were good looking but I resisted looking at them for most part.

Well I just figured I would try and focus on trying to cheer our falcons to victory than constantly trying to get a look of boob. Maybe thats why no one else in the arena was cheering hardly especially after the Samaraco dunk, they were all looking elsewere.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:falconboy wrote:hammb wrote:If I ever tire of boobs, I would like one of you to put me out of my misery.Flipper wrote:I'm 44 years old and I've seen more than my share of boobs...real, fake, small and large, but I never get tired of hearing about more of them....Okay.
