1st reported offer since the end of the season is a little unconventional as far as geography. Eagle Mountain Utah graduate 6'4" SG/PG Drake Allen who played at Snow College a small CC in Ephraim, Utah. A look at the roster of Snow College almost reminds of the cast of "Book of Mormon" --blonde and white. Well Allen is not blonde and he looks like he shoots well and can get up for a quick dunk in traffic but I wonder if those moves to the basket would work in mid-major basketball against faster and bigger athletes. Huger certainly loves offering PGs/combo guards and Allen has a number of offers from lower end mid Majors but looking at rosters for those offers, this might happen as only NJIT and Radford has less competition at the position of SG . Wonder if a small town guy from the mountains of Utah wants to play in the flat plains of BG.

Huh.

I hope whoever the staff brings in has some IQ. I think this team missed having Justin Turner and even a guy like Dylan Frye. A high IQ player would be nice. We wait and see I suppose.

This is yet another reason I feel like we're just wasting Bill Frack's money. We have a huge recruiting budget (compared to conference brethren) because we don't HAVE a "Convention" geographically. Huger pulls players from all over the eastern US (admittedly, Utah is far even for him). Meanwhile we lose in the MAC to teams like OU, Akron, Toledo with rosters full of Ohio kids.

I'm NOT one of those people that says you have to recruit Ohio to get people that can excel here and know Ohio or whatever. But I do think it probably costs more money to recruit kids from Utah, Florida, NJ, NY, Pennsylvania, etc than it does to just focus on Ohio & Michigan. And I just don't think we've seen much ROI from that. Hell the best players this program has ever had all are Ohio/Michigan kids... Richaun was from Illinois, but Turner, Stacey, McLeod, Daniels...all Ohio/Michigan kids. The last 2 MAC players of the year are both Ohio kids.

I hope this dude comes in here and can play ball. At the end of the day I don't much care where our kids come from if they rep BG and can play. But it is weird how little we recruit our geographic region and we're certainly not pulling a higher caliber of recruits than our peers by doing so.

Someone on the BG staff must be scouting Snow College of Utah because today was the second offer made from that JUCO Roster. (There goes a little more of the Frack money). It is 6'7" PF Clayton Southwick out of Palmer AK. First Division 1 offer since 2018. I believe Palmer AK is the hometown of former BG Footballer and part time basketballer Cole Magner.

Agee

Well this is interesting
Played for Jans so maybe he can teach Huger how to coach. I am just going to pretend that Noon is the head coach or that Huger bought a book about how to run an offense
Played as a RS Freshman last year so has 3 more years of eligibility.....which seems nuts because he redshirted 1 year for Jans played his second year and then transferred. https://nmstatesports.com/sports/mens-b ... -agee/6831
Then had a ridiculous year last year

This might be Hyperbole but if hes our best player I am not at all surprised.

We have 3 more roster spots. Could really use a starting c
1 Metheny 5-11 Jr/So 6.2p 2.8a 21.6(3%) 24.7m Lightfoot 6-0 R
2 Fulcher 6-2 Jr/So 5p 3.6r 36.6(3%) 18.4m Mills 6-3 Jr 4.4p 21.9(3%) 20.9m
3 Curtis 6-4 SR 9.5p 3r 3.1a 33(3%) 22.5m
4 Turner 6-7 Sr/Jr 6.6p 3.6r 37.5(3%) 17.8m Felt 6-8 R
5 Agee 6-7 Jr/So 20.1pg 11,5rpg 35(3%) O'Neal 6-7 SR 3.5p 9.5m Etim 6-8 Fr

Have a 6 man rotation right now.

"Played" his second year is a stretch. Looks like he was slated to get a lot of playing time but got hurt a couple of games into the season and didn't play again. I really like this pickup. They could still use a 6'9"-6'10" presence but they are looking like they'll be a good coach away from competing again.

Tape looks damn impressive. I like that his first instinct around the rim is to dunk it.

If only we had not managed to run a pair of effective 6'9" players out of town.

Three 2022-23 Offerees chose other schools this week. JUCO Drake Allen unsurpisingly stayed close to home at S. Utah, Cole Farrell took Horace Greeley's advice and chose Portland State, and someone named Keba Keita who I did not even know we offered and is from Mali went to Utah. That leaves only 7 offers left on Verbalcommits with 3 JUCOs and 4 HS. Looks more and more like the remaining 3 spots will be filled by trasfers and/or JUCOs. Look out EMU we're coming after you for roster changes!!!

The 7 left

1. Tobe Awaka-6-8 Offered 6-28-21
2. Brian Moore 6-3 180 Offered 10-20-21: Recent offers from West Virginia and South Carolina
3. Jason Drake 6-2 Offered 6-19-21
4. Jonathan Mbogo 6-8 Offered 10-19-21
5. Keyshawn Hall 6-7 Offered 7-15-21: Recent offers from Missouri, Washington St, Arizona St, St Mary's
6. Aaron Lemon-Warren 6-5 Offered 7-18-19
7. Clayton Southwick 6-7 Offered 4-6-22

Probably just Mbogo and Southwick as realistic additions. I would be very excited about Mbogo and not so excited about Southwick
