I am assuming that he omitted Reimold and Pardon because they were both transfers and not traditional "recruits". In their cases, I don't know how much contact Coach Dakich had with them prior to their decision to come to BG.Flipper wrote:Yeah sure DrDesert...Ron Lewis was an exceptional recruit but Reimold, Almanson, Matela, Pardon, Wright, Samrco...they're just a bunch of stiffs.
Taht you would list Ron Lewis and omit a guy like Reimold tells me a lot

Ryan Sims and Keith McLeod are DD's 2 most highly rated recruits. Mark Larson is rated far higher than Len Matela was. Moss and Lewis were top 10 in Ohio and top 250 nationally, as was Crawford. Almanson was rated close to the top 100 by one service, but was off the map everywhere else. Hobson, Dildoboa, Netter and Marschall, all very gifted, were rated very mediocrely. (Hmm, 'mediocrely', ...is that a word?) Leon Petty and Reggie Harwell were rated very highly going into their senior season.

I am glad some on here actually read an entire post. And no, I don't understant that point. Perhaps it isn't as clear as first thought.

I guess I would be in Coach D's corner on this.
#1, his players earn their degrees. THAT is the most important reason they're here.
#2, I like his discipline. That is a trait that is becoming extinct at all levels.
#3, Coach has a pretty good W/L record in his 9 years. He was absolutely screwed twice with the NCAA bids and everyone knows it.
#4, I think he cares more about BGSU and the community than some folks want to admit.
I've talked with Coach numerous times and he always has a few minutes to chat. I, personally, think the guy is as honest as they come...he tells it like it is even if it isn't popular. Stubborn? Yeah, he is to a certain extent.
We all have our shortcomings in this life. None of us are perfect. We knew this was going to be a challenging year. IMO, Coach still has a year left on his contract. When it's up, then we'll see what happens.
What if, what if this team gets hot at the right time and wins the MAC Tourney? The love will flow....

Reimold was a great shooter who worked so hard that he looked like death warmed over everytime he stepped on the court. You can call him exceptional if you want, but I'm not sure how leaving Reimold off a list of exceptional recruits in my post "told you a lot" or even what it told you.Flipper wrote:Yeah sure DrDesert...Ron Lewis was an exceptional recruit but Reimold, Almanson, Matela, Pardon, Wright, Samrco...they're just a bunch of stiffs.

And your football analogy doesn't really hold. Sideline penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct are pretty rare in football. Coaches getting t'd up on the siodeline really isn't all that rare in college hoops
Getting t'd as many times as Dakich has is rare. I would suggest that the number of coaches who have as many as he has is limited. So how is it that the football analogy doesn't "hold"?

Citing Lewis as an exceptional player and not Reimold tells me a lot. Lewis is lazy on defense and selfish on offense. Reimold was great shooter who became a pretty good all around player through the very hard work and determination you cited.
That you would show a greater appreciation for a lazy stiff like Lewis than an actual basketball player like Reimold speaks volumes.
The football analogy doesn't hold because you asked us how Paul Krebs might react if Brandon had been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct the same number of times that Dakich has been T'd up. It's not a good comparison because football coaches don't get flagged nearly as often as basketball coaches draw technicals. It's like asking how the people of Toledo would react if there were as many murders in the city as there are in Detroit.
Did Dakich run over your dog or something?

Yeah, he'll put up a 9-7 mark next year when Samarco is a senior, but then, 2007, that's when we BOMB. I'm talking maybe 2-14 in conference and staying in the cellar for years because of the recruiting damage that Dakich has inflicted on this program. Hopefully then that will be enough for him to get canned, unless his contract runs out before then.CrazyFan wrote:It just amazes me the attitude of typical fans. Love the guy when he's up and then kick, spit, stomp, and then body slam the guy while rubbing sand in his face for good measure when he's down. And it goes for all sports, collegiate and professional. It means nothing here that Dan Dakich has his players performing in the classroom. It means nothing that out of his 8 seasons, 5 have been winning seasons. It means nothing that after he lost virtually all his starters after the 2002 season he gradually built his winning percentage each year until this one, which you can argue has been injury and transfer riddled. Like I said before people, be happy were not a EMU or a CMU and we can put a competitive team on the floor, a team that you know will play their a**es off, year in and year out. Wait till next year. Then you'll all be loving him again.

in the words of Napoleon Dynamite, youre a "friggin idiot" are you in denial, teams go through rough stretches...it happens, its college basketball...if krebs fires dakich, that program will not get any better...i believe there is a reason why dakich mentioned as a indiana succesor to mike davis, the man can coach, just because we are not having a good year doesnt mean he cant coach, mark my words BG will contend next year! OU is falling apart because they have so many egos they cant play together, Kent will always be good and so will akron, miami is always there as well, but we will be there as well next year
john floyd is proving that he can play, we all know what samarco can do, marschall will be a very improved player next year, moon will be our defensive stopper, brian moten and darryl clements look like they could be good players, and does anyone know whether steven wroght will be granted another year to play? so to say dakich has done a terrible job is a lil too farfetched coming outta your mouth, because you dont even know how he coaches...youve only been to TWO games. we'll have to hear your comments after you watched our improved team next year...
we were an 18-11 team last year that lost our best player and another great player to graduation...
