I think Dog has some legal problems he wants to take care of before he officially commits to coming over to the mainland and coaching.

I think the moral of the whole story is to quit ball riding Findlay, Owens and St. Johns programs and their coaches. None of them have even the smell of a chance to be our next coach so you might as well take their names off the list right now and quit the stupid what if's. Now that that's clear, let's move on with some intelligent coaching option discussions.
Jim Welling isn't even a coach. lol Was it his brother that wrote the Sentinel? Has this guy ever left Wood County? I wonder if this was the exact letter he wrote 5 years ago? I won't even start with the reasons why he isn't coaching. The thought of hiring Jim Welling if flat out laughable!!!!
I'm hearing a lot of Orr rumblings. Apparenly he's talked to at least one other MAC coach asking about the BGSU program and he's expressed interest in interviewing.
This guy was Big East COY in 2003... He's from Cinci... Was a strong player at Syracuse and had a nice NBA career (I can remember him coming off the bench for the Knicks).
I don't know a lot about why he was fired from Seton Hall, but I'm more and more interested in finding out as much as I can about this guy...

The chances of the best candidate for the job coming from Purdue is very slim, therefore my vote is bad thing. Even worse than stressing hiring from within.
Orr would be the wrong pick on just about every level.
He's old (for coaches) and there were concerns about his drive and passion while at Seton Hall. He also has a rather bland personality that wouldn't excite or energize the community. He was roundly criticized by the NY/NJ basketball people for not fighting for the top tier local recruits. Seton Hall was downright painful to watch offensively and routinely scored in the 40's and 50's. Orr also coached at mid-major Siena for a year, had some success and immediately jumped to the Hall after just one season.
We need an up-and-coming dynamo with Midwest and mid-major recruiting experience and success. We need Josh Oppenheimer or Tracy Dildy.
I'd prefer to stay in region...of all the names I 've heard bandied about Oppenheimer sounds the most intriguing. This is Christopher's first hire. It will be interesting to see how he plays it.
