I don't think that means anything. Maybe we'll find out tomorrow.

The positive feedback that Lamonta Stone gets is unreal. Did he not recruit the players every one said were not D1 players?? DD was horrible at coaching the ton of talent Lamonta recruited.

Here are some thoughts from the Seton Hall message boards. I didn't catch any bad thoughts in any of the postings.

Yes, and it says he's entering his 4th year..which would be next year. Both are telling.

Getting Louis Orr and retaining LaMonta Stone (hopefully) is a grand slam.

I think that this could be a really good thing for BG. Coach Orr has a winning record at Seton Hall, which in most years plays in one of the two or three toughest conferences in the country. He has had success and I think will continue to have success. I don't really care if he plays an up or down tempo of game. All I care is that his teams play hard defense and win. Most of the time a good offense comes from having a great defense.

Three things will speed up his success at BG.

1) A fully qualified Chris Knight

2) A true point guard that can play next year

3) An athletic 4 that can contribute next year.

I'm no hoops junkie, but I really like this hire. The guy's resume seems stellar.

Usually, we go after up-and-comers. I like bringing in a coach from the Big East. It's a different approach, and it's exciting.

I wonder how much we will be paying him. That will be interesting to find out.

You can count me as one who likes this hire. I think it has been well stated that he was a successful coach at Seton Hall, playing in one of the toughest conferences in the country. It is not like he underachieved at a major program (see Tubby Smith, Tommy Amaker, etc.) and is now just looking for a second chance. It sounds like there was a conflict of interest of some sort with him and the AD and I would hope Mr. Christopher got the details of that before making this decision. With the young talent in this program, I can see a major turnaround next year and contending for a MAC title in 2008-09.

I will also add that I think he could stick around here for a while. He is in his 50s, so not going to be high on the list of most major programs and since he and his wife are from this part of the country, they should be comfortable here. The only way I see him leaving is if he has major success, like a couple NCAA Tournament appearances. In that case, I think we would all be happy!

How did he do pulling in money for facility improvements at SH?

You know, for our new convocation center type thing.
