I think it depends on how far into the process the player gets. Different sport, but when Robert Redd "left" for Louisville and then came back, he had to sit out. He also lost his number.bgsufan1972 wrote: If a player declares he is leaving and transfering, i.e. Lewis and then he decides to come back to school, does he have to sit out a year since he declared he was leaving.
Also, I'm mostly in agreement with hammb. I won't be boycotting the hoops team personally because I'm an incurable hoops junkie, but I think we deserve some explanations. I like Coach Dakich and I've tried and tried to give him the benefit of the doubt on everything thus far...but the hits just keep on coming. We need to know what's going on, and more importantly, where we're going from here.

Man is this depressing or what??
It seems like total idiocy for Lewis to leave like this , does he really want to sit out a year before he can play again?? I saw Josh Almonson in the WC library yesterday , I thought about asking him if he new anything about Wright. I gotta go before I get too depressed. Thank goodness for football.

Your avatar looks like an elephant skull, 4th row. What does that reveal about my personality. Should I be kept away from sharp objects, small children or perhaps, sharp children?
Looking at this with the worst case scenario in mind, if Wright leaves and Opie is out, our starting backcourt will be Robinson and Montgomery.
We'll have no subs to speak of.
If Wright stays and Op is ok....I actually think we'll be OK. Reimold will have to play a gazillion minutes and Montgomery will have to step it up a couple of notches, but it's not like Lewis is irreplaceable.
Nobody on that team is THAT talented....

Wammer's take on the Lewis situation!
Norm Wammer (1470am) reported that he confirmed from two different sources that Lewis was upset about bringing in a new point guard, because he "needed to play point" to prepare for the NBA!!!! He was ask about winning, and he said,"THAT IS SECONDARY!!!!!)
Bye!!!! Bye !!! Ron and don't leave the door hit you in the butt, whereever you want to go!!!!!

I also heard that on Norm's show. I called in to say that there was a problem with BG basketball and we have heard nothing about why these kids are leaving. He said that Rosefelt & Hobson both left to pursue more playing time and that Ronald is leaving for the reason mentioned above. If that is true then good riddens Ron, we don't need your kind at BG.
I still would prefer to have this story confirmed from more than just Norm Wamer's "sources", but that will likely never happen.

I take that with a grain of salt. Not saying it isn't true, just a grain of salt. Wamer works really hard to stay on Dakich's good side--he's on the show every WEEK. He's a suck up. Its unlikely he would do or say anything that wasn't the Dakich party line. I would imagine one of those sources might be coach himself.
Frankly, Falconfan1 has a higher track record of reliability.

I agree that Norm Wamer would say anything that Dakich told him. Norm doesn't seem to rock the boat, ask the hard questions of any of his guest. That being said, if this is true that Ron wanted to play PG so he could pepare for the NBA rather than doing what the coach asked him to help the team win, well then I am not so sad to see him go. Just didn't think Lewis was that kind of a person.
