Next opponent Savannah State is off to a 4-0 start
OK OK. Get off the ledge, people. Did that suck? Yes. But let's remember the MAC is about conference play. Win the MAC! I don't think this cost BG an at large bid to the NCAA Tourney.
I hope we learned that no lead is safe. Battle 'till the end. They just got too sloppy. Focus! (And some free throw lessons wouldn't hurt either)...

A slow painful death in the second half. Turnover after turnover on offense and very few stops defensively. When we didn't turn it over on offense, we missed free throws.NY-BG-FAN wrote:Didn't get to listen on the radio tonight, but ESPN.com says we won 57-54. Good thing I checked here as well, as it would hardly be a surprise if ESPN screwed up. How did it end?
I'm not too concerned about this loss, though. In the grand scheme of things, we need to win 3-4 games in March and we need to be playing our best basketball (including making some free throws) then. Learn from the mistakes made in the second half and we will be fine.

Man, with the start Savannah State had to the season, just losing to them on the road wouldn't have been horrible.
But wow, to squander a 35-14 halftime lead? That's not so hot. Hard to believe they could hold a team to 14 points one half, and give up 40 the next. That's a long, long trip to have a loss like that. I wouldn't want to be a part of that ride home.

In the grand scheme, blowing a 21 point lead cannot be a positive in any way. Sure you can say it wasnt a MAC game but eh...it was Savannah St. Sure they are better than many think, but they are NOT that good. If we play like that in a MAC game, we could blow a 50 point lead. Ugly. Nothing positive at all. This is the team that SHOULD have beat Ohio State!

Bah! One positive: Knight had 10 boards. Maybe that's a sign that he's coming back.
Clements shot badly. He's had some rather bad shooting nights. Inconsistent. And wow, Jak sure did suck. 6 turnovers and he fouled out.
SSU turned it over 19 to our 22. We clobbered them on the boards.
We actually shot better than they did, but they made more threes. They also sank two more FTs.
Polk had three boards.

It is becoming evidentally clear that Nate Miller should not be starting for this team. The team plays better without him and maybe sitting him on the bench will strighten him out and get it through his thick skull to concentrate on free throws. How do you shoot sub-20% from the line? HOW??!!?? thats pitiful.

Holy $hit! I listened to the first half and we were up 21 points. Went to dinner, checked the score on ESPN and it said we won 57-54 and I thought, whew, we almost blew a huge lead there, but at least we got the win. Logged on to look at the box score when I got home only to see we actually LOST! Outscored 43-19 in the second half?! Thankfully it wasn't a MAC game.
GO BG!!!
