If you are going to lose, lose with guys who can develop. I completely agree.orangeandbrown wrote:First, I would not assume that Huntsville is a win. That's the #3 ranked DII team in the country and they were 29-4 last year.
Second, I don't see BG getting double digit wins. After Huntsville, we have Detroit and Youngstown State, who won at Georgia.
Finally, I agree with Hammb. I'd like to see what Clarke and Sealey would do with more time, but they have not been great when they have had chances to play. However, if we're going to lose, I just think we'd rather lose that way than Orr and Kraus.

Orr is a capable 5th starter on an 8 win MAC team.

As soon as one of Henderson-Clarke-Orr-Sealey or Holmes starts consistently scoring this team will be dangerous.guest44 wrote:Orr is a capable 5th starter on an 8 win MAC team.

He only has 2 personal fouls all year.guest44 wrote:Orr is a capable 5th starter on an 8 win MAC team.
Re: Gameday Robert Morris
Hahaha. Great. He doesn't foul people. Considering the intensity of his father on the sideline, I'd say that statistic is not a surprise. The rims in the Stroh are the only thing viewing this team as dangerous.
Re: Gameday Robert Morris
Oh, great. We'll have 1 consistent scorer then. And teams with 1 consistent scorer are real dangerous.Globetrotter wrote:As soon as one of Henderson-Clarke-Orr-Sealey or Holmes starts consistently scoring this team will be dangerous.guest44 wrote:Orr is a capable 5th starter on an 8 win MAC team.
Re: Gameday Robert Morris
If you're comparing him to Erger, sure he may be fine, but I'm still not convinced he plays on anything but the worst MAC teams. I actually think he's pretty bad at nearly everything...his shot is awful...in fact he doesn't do much of anything offensively. I suppose he's a decent defender and if you're comparing him as a SG he's a decent rebounder, but not at SF. He's nothing more than a warm body, IMO.Globetrotter wrote:Orr is a capable 5th starter. He deserves a scholarship. He does everything ok and nothing bad. I guess when I say he is fine I may be comparing him to Erger, who is bad. Orr is just fine. Nothing horribly bad, nothing horribly good.Falconfreak90 wrote:Orr and Crawford are fine but Matt Schilz is an awful QB. Just having a bit of fun there GT...;0)
The box score says it all and hammb is dead on. We have guys getting huge minutes and doing nothing. Others are getting smaller minutes and at least doing something. IF this team wins 8 games this year, I'll be surprised. I wanna be excited for the season but I haven't seen anything that tells me it's going to be good....or even average. I'm afraid we are heading for big time trouble...

Orr...like most of our team...is nondescript. He just kida runs up and down the floor and does very little to influence the course of events. He's like one of those mechanical rabbits they use to get greyhounds to race....

Re: Gameday Robert Morris
FWIW,
I am officially off the bandwagon. It's not that I don't think Crawford is still pretty good, that Calhoun is a stud at times or that Orr is a capable 5th starter and deserves a roster spot. It's that Orr just can't develop talent and for that matter doesn't really seem to have a plan. It's clear to anyone who has watched this group of players that Sealey and Clarke should be starting AND seeing the majority of the time at the 2 and 3, even if it means growing pains now for returns later. It's also clear, by just looking at Sealey, that Orr can't develop talent. It should be apparent to everyone just how good Scott Thomas was and he was an average star. Nothing too spectacular in his game but his try hard rubbed off on everyone else. Now we have two knuckleheads running the team who shoot guns like Yosemite Sam when they are having success and disapear like Casper when they aren't. I'm not convinced the talent isn't there. In fact I am going to bet we double our wins next year.
Gone will be Calhoun, Kraus, Erger and Crawford. Likely Chauncey as well. I think he is an ok guy to have on a deep team as the 5th to 9th player. He can play 2 spots well, doesn't make mistakes and rebounds well. However, I am not sure there is precedence for a coach being fired and his son staying on the team.
That leaves
1. Clarke JR
2. Henderson JR
3.
4. Sealey SR Holmes JR
5. Black SR
Then a bunch of guys we know nothing about
Spencer Parker and Desmond Rorie have not played a minute do to injury.

I'm not sure there can possibly be a bigger indictment on Orr as the leader of this program than seeing the most optimistic and hopeful person on AZZ.com already jumping off the bandwagon 4 games into the year.Globetrotter wrote:FWIW,

I was upset that they retained Orr last year, but now that the season is beginning and it appears we may be even worse than I imagined I'm really getting pissed. I always get stoked about hoops season...even when we have no shot in hell of competing I'm excited to see the dunks and hang out with good friends. But man it's disheartening to have the season feeling lost before I've even stepped foot in the Stroh.
Re: Gameday Robert Morris
Hey Globetrotter...... can we get some who is going to be the next coach threads soon? Please do not include any current assistants on our staff in advance. Thanks.
Re: Gameday Robert Morris
We're about to start a 6 game home stand. Winning as many of these as possible is huge because after that it's a road stand and then conference play. If the team limps into conference play, things could get really really ugly. I'm hoping all these consecutive games at home will be what the team needs to turn the season around.
And the thought of the season needing a turnaround when we're still in November is really unsettling.

Re: Gameday Robert Morris
Its really impossioble to defend them. I like Crawford but he is at best a 3rd or 4th best player on a team at your absolute best. When you are counting on him to be a scoring threat every night he just can't do it. Calhoun has always been inconsistent....and thats our scoring. We have seen no flashes from the other 4-5 guys that I thought we would. Kraus can be your 5th starter, but everyone else must be studs.hammb wrote:I'm not sure there can possibly be a bigger indictment on Orr as the leader of this program than seeing the most optimistic and hopeful person on AZZ.com already jumping off the bandwagon 4 games into the year.Globetrotter wrote:FWIW,

And I am usually not very optimistic...although I try to be...not sure what got into me this year. I am very polar when it comes to my sports...my teams are either great or awful.
